Preemptive RIP Quantic Dreams

Post by rusty_shackleford »

Quantic Dream’s 3v3 team-based game, Spellcasters Chronicles
Spellcasters Chronicles is a free-to-play, 3v3, third-person action-strategy game from Quantic Dream, blending MOBA elements with unique mechanics like free flight and deck-building. Players control powerful mages, summoning creatures and casting spells to destroy enemy "life stones" in fast-paced matches, with a focus on aerial combat, map control, and strategic deck customization.

It's the only game they've made in 8 years.

In August 2022, NetEase announced the acquisition of Quantic Dream after the 2019 minority investment done in the company. After this, the studio will become a subsidiary part of its parent company and will help NetEase objective to have more console game releases.[39] Quantic Dream said that over the years prior that there had been several offers to buy the studio, and they had selected NetEase's proposal as it was favorable to their continued development.[40]

Quantic has been silent for so long, and this is what they were doing? Quick service game cashgrabs and publishing... Dustborn? Good God... And their only real project has the Star Wars IP slapped on it... Mr. Cage might be creatively spent :(

Tbh, that doesn't even look bad. If I had two people to play this with, I'd even give it a chance.

Saw someone on the X describe investing in this genre as playing the lottery. Yes, the math is heavily against you, but you only need to win once, so dummies will keep doing it.
