There isn't a single new game I can think if that I give a **** about. All they will do is continue to demake your childhood games into woke slop to demoralize and enrage you. This is what i say to people who think there are "no good games anymore." Well, then start emulating or begin gaming the old school way on a CRT. I didn't have a gaming PC until 2018, and until that point, i exclusively relied on old systems because that's all i really cared for and had. SNES, N64, gamecube, PS2, Genesis.. and while i never gave up my collections even for bills, i ******* regret the PC with a passion and should of used my budget for that on bills or just old games. If i hadn't gone down the PC rabbit hole, the last *new* game i bought would of been in from 2014, which was Halo 4, on the Shitbox 360. And boy, i should of learned then when i didn't even enjoy that miserable **** **** pile of monkey scrotum.

edit: I also think if i had stopped at Halo 4, and never built my PC, i would have never become so ******* jaded and ****** off about games like i am now. Gaming was a hobby i loved, but ever since dipping my toes in the modern gaming world, i have realized how sad and pitiful **** is and i'ts hard to go back knowing what gaming has become. We have PC's that are beginning to explore AI and can handle processes much deeper than we ever hoped. And yet we get Slopreal Engine unoptimization, woke cope to appease...who? And little to no fun. After you update your drivers, reformat your PC, kill all background tasks, manage to set up an account with a 3rd party launcher and successfully logging in after error after error. By that 6 hour mark, you can finally launch your game... and then you sit there, wait for shaders to compile, wait for the application to connect to the launcher/cloud server to begin syncing. Then finally, you're at the main menu. Which cluttered with ads and "Deals" for things you can purchase. But once you make it past that, you're able to begin the game. Oh boy, create a character! Whats this.... minimal sliders? Presets? Body Type A and B? Huh? Okay well... wait, pronoun options? Uhhh ... okay. Well maybe the game is- *CRASH* - would you like to submit a crash report?

Maybe i need to become a monk or amish, and come back to gaming after 2 years of celibacy. And then AND ONLY THEN, play games from 2006 prior.

Console created what PC is today though.

PC prior (or for a time before console caught up to being able to handle PC level content) was a different focus. Once console took over all games were limited to that. They then realized since the bulk of players were "console" players, they could provide "console" level advancement on the PC even though PCs are capable of producing far beyond what they do now. Console slop, its design, its limitations are the focus of PC gaming these days (that and the limitations of hiring ******** people who only know how to use applications for design).

I think of it like this. People have been trained to develop (trained or just limited because they are educated by a limited system) in a way that is akin to putting a throttle limiter on a high powered engine. They function and design through that limitation because the don't know how to surpass that. They only know how to use that which was handed to them (poorly designed/tuned engine creation software) which limits their ability to push pass boundaries. They lack the creativity, the education, the drive to produce past it and it continues to degrade over time because those who "teach" over the years are just a shallow reflection of their predecessors.

I honestly find that way less embarrassing than the alternative; a late 30's early 40's white man child, which in the background is their """man"""cave full of funkos, anime girl figures, and a poster of Dark Souls. Bonus points if they're mildly fat. Most likely will have those annoying LED strips that require an RGB app.

Before everything was a PC, consoles were also capable of doing things that PCs wouldn't have a bat's chance in hell of pulling off without at least six times the hardware. Stuff like smooth scrolling. Commander Keen was a big deal because it was able to run like a NES game on PCs... that were at least three times more expensive than an NES. Tragically, the last specialty console worth getting on that kind of merit was the Wii U, and a globe's worth of speds never bought one of those. Sure, a <1 frame lag wireless 480p screen-controller isn't as impressive these days, but neither is Commander Keen. The enshittification of PC gaming is the massive bloat of DRM and rootkit "anti-cheat", the enshittification of console gaming is the modern "walled garden PC" experience and lack of specialist hardware. The enshittification of all gaming is Diversity, Inclusion, and Equity.

If I had to keep two gaming devices around, it'd be a PC and my Wii U. Sure, you can emulate the latter these days, but the original hardware is still best for a lot of that thing's best party games. Besides, I have root.
