Finished the main quest which is quite short (can be finished in 15 hours I believe, if you know where to go of course). Will be doing the DLCs next, but tbh there isn't much incentive to do most of the side quests since you can be both rich and powerful easily by just following the MQ.

Did anyone do the vampire quests, specifically the Aundae clan ones? I ran into a quest breaking bug where one of the Altmer in the Wolverine Hall mages guild who is supposed to point you to the quest target was missing the dialogue prompt and manually adding it through the console didn't work. Normally that wouldn't be a huge issue because in most cases where this type of thing happens, if you know where the target is already, you can skip straight there. Unfortunately, the target won't talk to you because you're a vampire and the way around this is the guy from the guild gives a potion to deliver that makes the target talk. I had to cc in the potion which fixed it. It's not a huge deal but I haven't seen mention of it anywhere. Might be OpenMW specific.

Done. Vanilla version is **** near unplayable without Boots of Blinding Speed + Magic Resistance. A competent remake would make this the best TES title

Bolvyn Venim insists on a duel for Redoran Horkadork...
Arriving in Vivec at Dawn, scene is fitting. Handling some business then meeting him at the Arena soon. I talk to Shenk now and then about my goings on... and as word has been getting around about me possibly being the Nerevarine he mentioned throwing (another) party for me and my exploits should I be successful. Oh ****...

So Shenk saw me leaving that morning with gear ready as I headed for Vivec for a showdown with Mr Venim. Told me he's confident in my victory as this will be 2 Great Houses down now to name me 'Horker-'... 'Whoreta-' ... 'Por favor' or whatever it is and that he's planning another 'banger' for the night upon my victory. Yeah just lovely. More noise for another night in my rented Master Suite above... So Venim went down a couple times. I told him to just give up... stubborn prick kept getting up and insisting on going down permanently fighting even though he could clearly see all my obnoxious shiny gear and must have known it was disadvantageous to continue but he persisted... I respect it, I'll give him that much.

► Show Spoiler

I spend a bit of time there in Vivec handling some other business and talking with a few Arena fans who witnessed the bout before making my way back home to Caldera later in the afternoon. Shenk stops me at the door after coming through the door clearly knowing the results at seeing me. He's overjoyed. I can see unopened crates piling up in the corners being brought in by Legionnaires and red lighting and lanterns being set up at various spots. Oh ffs... I just head up stairs for the night and sort away some spoils I've acquired including Bolvyn's Ebony attire and Daedric Dai-Katana. I have myself a nice tea to relax from the day with some Comberry as I read over a few things I've scribbled into the journal as to what is next. 6pm hits. I can hear the Inn door opening frequently as the amount of voices increase. The noise. MANNY'S people come over yet again...thumping music all night. No fuckin sleep. Manage to finally pass out sometime around 3 or 4 maybe..??? I'm grumpy as all **** this morning as I get the garb on to head back down again for the day to go and see these Tel-avi-, Telmommy-, whatever they are called ffs, and try to get them to name me the Humidor for their House...

► Show Spoiler

It's just a fuckin shitshow. Bottles everywhere. Place reeks of booze. White women passed the **** out. Legionnaires still here finishing off mugs and stumbling around. Ho-ly Jesus.

► Show Spoiler

I have to finished this playthrough off soon and just get myself a farm house or some hut up in the Grasslands or the coast somewhere and just fish out the days or farm something. This is getting out of hand...

Finished Tribunal and Bloodmoon a couple of weeks ago but forgot to make a poost.

Just to get it out of the way, Bloodmoon isn't that good relative to the rest of the game and especially Tribunal. I think this has been pointed out several times ITT already. Without griping about details, what I noticed the most was how Bloodmoon was the writing on the wall for TES practices going forward. Off the top of my head we have:
  • Split questlines where both sides basically do the same quests.
  • Scaled tiers of increasingly spongy enemies. While Tribunal did some of this too, Bloodmoon did it more.
  • Hehe silly npcs.
  • Downgraded dungeon design. With a couple of exceptions, I don't think that Morrowind's dungeons are all that great to begin with but the only ones even remotely interesting were the ones associated with the BM main quest. This is especially noticeable coming from Tribunal which IMO had some of the best dungeon content any TES game has offered.
It's also worth noting that all of these things manifested when Emil was brought aboard. He wouldn't've had the influence at the time to have much of a say in anything but it is curious how these things align.

I also think Solstheim is a **** map. As much as it pains me to say it, Dragonborn did it better. Morrowind's map was always better from the macro perspective than the micro and to Bethesda's credit, they massively improved on the micro side of things, even if they dropped the ball with the macro in Oblivion. Speaking solely about TES ofc, I don't find FO3 and especially FO4's maps good at all. I actually really like a lot of the environmental assets used in FO3 but I don't like the game enough to glaze those aspects. To their credit, there are more things of value just lying around the Solstheim map (a GOOD trend going forward) but the actual topography and incessant use of spriggans and reiklings left much to be desired.

Most of the enjoyment I got out of BM was from the latter half of the main quest. I chose not to become a werewolf, my character had already been a vampire and it didn't seem fitting. The final gauntlet is a good capstone to the adventure. I also like that while the expac starts as midgame content, it ends as actual postgame content just like Tribunal. Preaching to the choir but Bethesda's insistence on level scaling everything has been one of the worst design decisions they've made since.

Tribunal on the other hand is probably my favorite part of Morrowind. I like the main quest, I like most of the sidequests, ******* who hate the sewers can stay mad they're ******* dope, it has a handful of hard encounters for tricked out characters, it has outstanding visual style, but Mournhold is too small and constrained by time and technical limitations. On the sewers/Old Mournhold in particular, yes they're a maze but they're a good kind of maze. I think that most sewers are full of enough identifiable elements as to not get super lost and there are so many neat little alcoves and side areas to find that exploring is a joy in a game where most dungeons have very little to offer.
