I was going to play it, but it's the third in a trilogy with importable saves. I've been tricked...
Especially since Wiz 6 is a AG game, but 7 isn't yet.

Wizardry 8 it is. It's a pretty long game so better start it as soon as possible. It's probably like Underrail in length.
Underrail is like ~55 hours long for my first playthrough, which is pretty long but not "**** you give up on your life if you wish to finish me" kind of length.
But whatever, I hate dungeon crawlers, and I don't want to play the previous 2 games just so I can start this one, so I'll just pass.

It seems to incorporate both combat speed changes previously done by two separate mods — movement speed and animation speed

Does it affect projectile speed?

I played original GOG version without patches and it was fine. Installing an additional patch won't hurt I suppose and you may also want to make battles faster as there are a lot of them.

The 1.28 version is worth it just because it adds hotkey support

I want to play it, but like others have said, this is part 3 in a trilogy. I'd prefer to play VI and VII first. They're all in my backlog, so someday...
I hate them.

It can be understood without playing the other two + importing a save actually has a rather big impact such that you'd want to play both ways

I used clod to create a README for the mod, had it go over it multiple times to make sure nothing was missed/no errors.

A certified unc classic or so I've been told. It'll be interesting to see if it holds up. The only Wizardry game I've ever played was the PS2 one.

Can we do a blitz re-vote since this is a save import game? I wasn't informed prior to voting.

It's not a normal save import game, you're fine. The story changes dramatically if you create a new team vs import

I don't think you're screwed with near any comp unless you purposely use something really bad

Seems fine to me. Melee classes are primary damage dealers. Mages' spells are not very strong in terms of damage though some of them affect all enemies. Buffs and debuffs are very good in this game though.

How much will I regret making a Fae Bishop instead of a race that can wear armor?

I never used the race because it seemed like it was made for certain setups or something idk, just didn't appeal to me :turtle:

I had fae psionic and it was fine. One fae should be good, more can be a problem as their carry weight is low. They have their own unique equipment which may be annoying but this type of equipment won't go to waste on the other hand.

The only thing I dislike about the fanpatch 1.28 is that it changes the POV by default because it assumes that the player will run the game in widescreen, but in such a case all pieces of the interface get streched alot to fit the new width. And when you run 4:3 resolution the interface stays correct but the POV change still happens meaning that the 3D world is displayed narrowed.
Neither of these cases ruin the gameplay but I thought it's some info worth sharing.

Anyway great choice guys, coincidentally I was recently considering uploading few little mods here that I made for this game, like portraits fixed to look better, some women are uber ugly

Anyone got some ideas for gaming out how to get 7 companions quick?
I don't even remember where they are.

(The fan patch allows you to recruit up to 7 to replace party members)

Vi and Myles are in Arnika so you can get them pretty quickly. There's also Urq but I don't remember if he can be recruited early on. There are also Umpani and T'rang companions but you have to be aligned with them to get them.

I found Vi in Arnika and when I saw she was a Valkyrie, I was expecting her to be a real frigid ***** about having been saved. She was actually appreciative of it, even if she said my guys looked like a bunch of school girls. That beats her girlbossing about how she didn't no man's help and could have handled overwhelming odds on her own, at least.

Favorite one-liner from the brogue character voice set.

dialogue probably heavily differs depending on if you imported a save or not. She's a returning character.

I didn't import. I looked up if you did import a party and the sentiment is "What took you so long?"

Shortly after meeting her you will find out that she was the villain's girlfriend for 7 years? And he recently hit her so hard she lost an eye?

Not clear why one would trust her to join you.
