Do you play any that aren't the old(good) Harvest Moon games or Stardew Valley?
Harvest Moon for the SNES was one of my favorite console games. The genre feels very feminized now with a much smaller focus on the actual farm.
Anyways, this game looks neat:
Anyone played it?

Having trouble running an old Windows game?

I'm guessing you didn't see the discussion we had following your post in the other thread? I think it sounds interesting thematically, but I looked through their comments section and their wiki, and there's too much libtard propaganda to make it worth the effort. Maybe if it gets good modding tools some day... (Also it's made by a foid.)
The thing I find about these is that none of them really do what I want. Instead of being about "the farm" they add on things like mining, or relationships, or owning the end-to-end production of goods.
Traveller's Rest has you run an inn that's pretty close to these types of games. It started off promisingly, but the dev either left or got bought out and the new people who took it over revamped it with a "quirky" aesthetic and undid everything that made it unique. Now it's just a poorly done Stardew clone with an inn.
Balrum has a lot of farming, but it's not solely a farming sim. I like it, though.
I'm interested in The Wandering Village. I don't think it's just a farming sim (it looks more like a city sim to me), but I know it's tagged as such. Scarlet Seeker gave it a very positive review recently.

There seems to be A LOT of horror farming games. I'm generally not into horror games. Yous reckon it is because normies fear the farm life?

I have a very strong fear of being alone in properties with multiple bedrooms when the other bedrooms aren't occupied. I'm grand in 1bedrooms though.

When a game bills itself as an allegory you know it's going to be good and not preachy!

Now, I'm all for smart cartoony graphics. Like, Oxygen Not Included, Graveyard Keeper and SC/WC2/C&C have cartoony graphics, but those are pleasant to look at (well, mostly). Stardew is just bad. Oversaturated, palette-limited whatever.
DemoGraph wrote: ↑ February 28th, 2026, 16:48The bigger question is "is there a farming sim without those dumb cartoony graphics?". I always get put off Stardew because of them.

Smart is not a synonym for ugly.DemoGraph wrote: ↑ February 28th, 2026, 16:48I'm all for smart cartoony graphics. Like, Oxygen Not Included
I plan to try this someday:
I highly recommend this one, but it's more about building a community than a farm:
But it's not cartoony at all! Also, not a farming sim, it looks like economic something. Realism on my farm? Reported for thinking that SC/WC2/C&C is ugly.Tangerine wrote: ↑ February 28th, 2026, 16:57Smart is not a synonym for ugly.DemoGraph wrote: ↑ February 28th, 2026, 16:48I'm all for smart cartoony graphics. Like, Oxygen Not Included
It runs its course pretty quick. It's a neat concept without a lot of depth.
Nice try. You were trying to smuggle Oxygen Not Included with good games.

ONI has a consistent style, coherent palette, etc. Yes, the drawing style is off-putting, but it was supposed to be this way. It's a game about clones ******** themselves in cold vastness of space.Stack of Turtles wrote: ↑ February 28th, 2026, 20:46Legit, though, ONI is ugly as ****. SV is just clumsy.
I actually had a license for Graveyard Keeper. It worked fine on my Nvidia. But when I changed a PC and switched to AMD, it stopped working. Just because. I wrote their tech support asking for help (since I had a licence and all) and they just ignored me, like irresponsible fucks they are.
Besides, the game itself is pretty grindy. Most of farming sims are, but this one is especially so. It features really long walks from point A to point B that are just filler and a bunch of useless unrewarding interactions just because. For me it felt more like checklist operation than a game.
The art style is decent, but childish. Jokes, text and worldbuilding are from zoomers (also, I disliked hipster shave on a main hero and there's no way to customize your sprite).
Basically, GK has its positive moments, but generally speaking I thought that Terraria is better farmer-crafter.
Uggggggggggggggggggh it was so bland
It's extremely grindy
