After testing our GREED in Black Geyser, it seems that GrapeOcean wants to continue making RPGs!

Announcing Our Next Game
Thanks to YOUR amazing support, we managed to create Black Geyser and then its expansion pack, Tales of the Moon Cult. Now, we are planning to announce our next party-based fantasy RTwP (real-time-with-pause) CRPG within a week or two, and launch a crowdfunding campaign to be able to fully fund its development. This new RPG takes place in the Black Geyser Universe too, 25 years before the plot of Black Geyser: Couriers of Darkness. It is rather a spin-off than a prequel to Black Geyser. This doesn't mean we aren't planning a Black Geyser sequel in the future, but the next game won't be that yet.

Greetings adventurers,
With your incredible support, we’ve been able to develop Black Geyser and its expansion, Tales of the Moon Cult. Thank you for being with us! Today, we would like to announce our next party-based, real-time with pause RPG, Avaria: Iron Rule. Its plot takes place 25 years before the events of Black Geyser: Couriers of Darkness. While it shares the same rich universe, it features a mostly standalone story under the early rule of King Velianrick. The plot revolves around the gritty themes of colonialism and the heavy weight of moral choices.

What to expect in Avaria: Iron Rule:

Compelling Narrative: Relatable characters and a deep story where your actions truly matter.
Moral Freedom: Your choices define your journey, whether you walk the path of good or evil.
Smooth Experience: A streamlined UI/HUD and significant Quality of Life (QoL) improvements.
Polished Performance: Faster loading times and a smoother engine for an uninterrupted journey.
Enhanced Progression: Adding ability trees alongside classic linear growth for ultimate build variety.

Find it mind-boggling how these guys thought it would be a fantastic idea to make their UI as soulless every other big game's from the last 16 years.

The crowdfunding campaign is now up.
"Good and evil paths sound cool, but I want to play in a style that doesn't condone slavery, while still favoring strict social order and accountability. Does Avaria support this?" - We receive this question regularly. The answer is: Yes, absolutely.
Yes, you can impose your 21st century morality on these losers, as is proper.
Along the way you will encounter a rich variety of races: humans, dwarves, elves, and more exotic faces such as Feldegugs, Rillows, and the native L'feekeen and Myrmids.
These guys will make you wish for xaurips and fampyrs.
Flogging and caning belonged to the harsh realities of the era, and in Avaria, you can end up on one or both sides of the whip, depending on your social class. In certain situations you could even order such discipline on others.
"We want the BG3 audience."

It's not bad. The start is a little rocky and the alchemy aspect needs a little getting used to, but once you get into the groove, it's not that bad.

I enjoyed it when I played it near the end of early access, my only complaint was the loading times were very long. Of all the IE-inspired games, it's the only one more like BG1 than BG2 and/or PST

They fixed those with a patch but you have to enable it in the options, it's not by default.

Ho there, adventurers,
Our current update unveils TWO BRAND-NEW STRETCH GOALS, and then presents some of the unique companions you can recruit in the game! Note that the companions are already secured - they have nothing to do with the stretch goals.

This is a big update, so prepare yourself for the journey!

Would you like to build your own golem in the game as a wizard? This goal allows you to build a powerful construct in the later stages of the game that will accompany your party under your control.

Image

Depending on your character's class, the golem can be as follows:
  • Ice Golem (Wintermage)
  • Bone Golem (Necromancer)
  • Iron Golem (Spellweaver)
  • Rilvite Golem (all wizard classes at very high levels)
  • The same stretch goal also adds the option to select your tattoo at character creation.
We've also revealed another stretch goal: Piracy & Trading with your own ship - hunt wicked pirates, or become the wicked pirate yourself! Once the golem crafting goal is reached, Piracy & Trading will no longer be impossible - most Kickstarter campaigns gain immense momentum and raise even more funds when high-level stretch goals are unlocked!

Image

Featured Companions
In the second part of the current update, we will present five of the several companions that you can recruit in Avaria: Iron Rule:

The Fellowship
Numerous friends and allies can be encountered in Avaria, and we'd like to introduce a few of them to you. This is our favorite selection, but you are free to shape your party as you see fit, hand-picking your favorites from all the companions offered by the game, or perhaps brave the dangers of Avaria completely solo.

Image

You will meet them in Avaria, as well as many others - and their stories will also be told.

Alright, the Kickstarter is over and they got to 80k which means that 5 stretch goals got reached.
Initial Goal of 25k
New Playable Race at 35k
Ship's Captain and Modding Support at 50k (Not sure about modding support considering Black Geyser has zero mods on the steam workshop)
Brand-new Classes (new spellcaster and bard) at 65k
Craft your Golem and you can select tattoos for your character. (Golems can be Ice,Bone,Iron,Rilvite depending on class)

Ho there, adventurers,
We did it! We're thrilled to announce that the ship has arrived in port and docked, with golems and various goodies in its belly! Thank you so much for your incredible support!!

Even though the Kickstarter campaign for Avaria: Iron Rule successfully ended, late backing is still possible for a limited time on our Backer Portal, and pledges are counted toward stretch goals!
For reward surveys, we'll use BackerKit - we'll let you know in a new update once surveys have been sent to you. BackerKit will also allow you to choose add-ons you missed during the campaign.

We are truly grateful to everyone who has been on this journey with us. Be sure to drop into our Discord server and chat by the fire! Oh, and don't forget to wishlist Avaria on Steam!
