Apparently the newer generations have it so bad they're reminiscent of eras they never personally experienced, because the present is now so bad that not only is it naturally worse on net (unavoidable), but also worse in every specific way they can see as well. Because in the past, things got worse on net, but improved in specific areas. But today, the decline is now so acute and pronounced that it cannot even produce local improvement. Everything is just worse.Fox1 wrote: β February 20th, 2026, 00:59Imagine a future world so awful that Gen Z is going to be reminiscent of an era where being lectured by ****** **** and their niggercattle about how you should ************* for being white will be a better time.
So do my kids. They like the music and movies that existed when I was young, too, and do not care for the bulk of modern slop.Roguey wrote: β February 19th, 2026, 19:17My grandparents and father very specifically liked the music and movies that existed when they were young and did not care too much for the modernity I enjoyed. We are all creatures of our environment.
Because they were better, obviously.mercerxiv wrote: β February 20th, 2026, 02:26How come some people like music that was made decades if not centuries before they were born?
It's quite easy to understand: In old timey when there was little to nothing, it was easier to pump from the well of goodness (technically: non-awfulness). As the well becomes increasingly pumped dry, it requires more and more effort to produce less and less quality product. This applies to everything, whether it's oil, science, or creativity. The only difference between oil and creativity is that is creativity doesn't get used up, so the old stuff is still around, as a clear example of how it was simply better in the past.
