Pharloom's Grammatical Fixes 1.0 — Hollow Knight Silksong

Post by ImpCityAngel »

What this mod fixes:
The use of plural pronouns such as they/them in a singular manner by changing them to he/him, she/her, or it/its where appropriate.
adds commas and apostrophe's to certain entries that should have had them before, such as the note for the Watcher at the Edge.
Makes the line where the humble pilgrim hears a child more specific, by changing it to "a young girl".

Requires Text Modder to work.
Here are the steps on how to add the mod to your game:
1. Have the latest version of Hollow Knight Silksong.
2. Download the latest version of BepinEx and place it into the root directory of your game files.
3. Launch the game at least once so that BepinEx can generate the necessary files.
4. Download Text Modder and copy paste the plugin.dll into the Plugins folder in the BepinEx folder.
5. Launch Silksong again so that the Mods folder will generate within the Hollow Knight Silksong_Data folder.
6. Unzip the folder containing the mod and copy paste it into the game's root directory.

This mod will be subject to change based on user feedback as well as the upcoming DLC's such as Sea of Sorrow.
I hope you enjoy the mod. :)

"The level of pettiness that goes into removing every instance of 'they' referring to a single person is ridiculous. Most of these are just completely pointless, and then we get to the misgendering. I don't know how intentional of that is on your part (maybe it's literally all just hatred for the singular 'they'), but these characters are referred to without male or female pronouns for a reason, and that ought to be respected." -EpicGamer10075

""they has been used as a singular pronoun in the english language for 600 years. it is not a grammatical error"" -Bakaamaa (He must have read that on Mental Floss.) https://www.mentalfloss.com/language/wo ... ey-history

"roses are red, violets are blue, singular "they" is older than singular "you"" -OrionFrost

No. That's the name of the game's setting.

Not currently, but if anyone would like me to change the dialogue in the first game as well as the dialogue when you meet the Nailsmith in the Painter's house, I will gladly do so.

I love how the article even points out that the singular they used in Middle English corresponded to a notional plural and not a single person, but the advocates don't care. They don't even understand the argument they're making. Or they do, but are being maximally dishonest, as usual.

In my experience they really don't get it, at all. I've tried explaining it before and you basically just get "but internet said it's singular they so you must be a lying nazi".
