Having the biggest shill campaign in gaming history didn't hurt either. From influencers to youtubers to 4chan to reddit you couldn't escape the game if you tried.rusty_shackleford wrote: β January 29th, 2026, 23:15The idea that brand recognition helped BG3 is an incredibly big cope I've seen repeated a lot. D&D was effectively a dead name in video games, BG games are too old to have moved any significant number of copies. Perhaps it's people not understanding just how many copies BG3 sold?
A well-liked developer made a game that didn't run like ****, is fairly fun to play, doesn't actively insult the player's intelligence, and isn't trying to nickel and dime you with DLC/cosmetics/etc.,
Wow, I can't imagine why it sold well.
We have a Steam curator now. You should be following it. https://store.steampowered.com/curator/44994899-RPGHQ/
Are video game devs inherently dirty commies, or did blackrock make them that way?
Why are you alluding that the corporate push for this wasn't the primary factor? The cultural revolution by private interests, especially in America, to merge racial and ethnic lines, to continue pushing women away from traditional roles after the Post-WW2 schism, destroying the nuclear family, among other tactics is not to be ignored when factoring gaming's fate. This has always been a push from the top, that is undeniable at this point. Not even the so lauded French Revolution was ever a bottom up organic movement, it was an ideological experiment conducted by wealthy and well connected individuals, who also curiously worked in educational institutions and journalist outfits. Before gaming even took off, the business world and much of society was already facing major liberal socialist movements from within, what Blackrock and others did was simply finalise that chokehold within gaming, which the establishment didn't take seriously as a credible platform for manipulating the public in the 80s and 90s.Roguey wrote: β January 28th, 2026, 22:11Can you guys claiming this is a top-down corporate push even name more than a single digit number of chud devs? Because all the big names from the 80s on I can think of are liberals. You'll get a rare unorthodox exception here and there like Sandy Petersen (the man with a leaky memory https://x.com/search?q=sandy from:romero&f=live)
Hollywood was already quite a significant success at the time, so was TV and radio before that. Then when the internet took full swing and gaming, among other new media, started generating serious profits and attention, the left found direct access to the troubled escapists of the West and began a new campaign, which we are seeing the fruits of today.
In summary, both is true. Developers were already tainted by the cultural revolution of the mid to late 1900s, and when the corporations finally stepped in and started leveraging their influence, these same developers didn't require much to continue to fall in line. Imagine, you're a liberal socialist making games in a state that hasn't nationally codified your beliefs yet, but in under 20 years it finally succeeds, why would you not make propaganda? After all, you're on the right side of history, the globalists and a major political party agree with you now. They even toss you a bit of money. You now have ideologues working for the promise of success motivated only by their belief the world will eventually come to appreciate their toils, it just needs a bit more time.

Yes - People like him were promoted and retained, while ordinary employees gradually left as company culture shifted due to ESG, DEI, Blackrock, China, etc and other corporate influences. Anyone who has worked in office environments over the past decade or two has seen this happen firsthand.
The dev in your picture has always been a ******, I agree. But the larger point is that employees like him were rewarded for their behavior, while competent, normal people were pushed out. That is exactly the systemic process I have been describing. What you are sharing does not counter what I have been saying at all, it aligns perfectly.![]()

Team Fortress 2: Alternate Characters
An internal pitch project aimed to bring female characters to the cast of Team Fortress 2.
I was responsible for story, character development and visual design. With the exception of their class function, It was important that each design presented an entirely new character. I wanted these characters to live on their own and add dimension to the current roster of in-game characters. The goal of the project was to dive deep into possibilities and facilitate creative discussion.

Precisely stated. But also, liberals (of the new kind) displace conservatives from positions of authority merely by joining the team. Smart people do not like being around dumb people, especially at work. For example, all of Blizzard North left Blizzard before Diablo 3, and Diablo 3 ended up a serious downgrade from its predecessors. Modern Blizzard still does not understand the secret sauce of the first two games.ThulsaDoomer wrote: β January 31st, 2026, 00:11Why are you alluding that the corporate push for this wasn't the primary factor? Dude you can't put two coherent sentences together and you are calling me unable to handle disagreement. The problem with your disagreement is that you cannot formulate arguments. I can handle babbling all day long; it takes zero effort.Tangerine wrote: β February 1st, 2026, 13:50You put out an opinion, I disagree with you because you're wrong. Here is the thing. You are being taste-intolerant. I have no problem with your preferences in games. But you have terrible problems with mine. Like everybody must like the same thing. This is because they know to keep their mouth shut and it has been this way since nearly the entire existence of current social media. This would have been enough to get someone fired in ~2016-2023 era: This is from Paul Steed's book, a main character artist at id.Roguey wrote: β January 28th, 2026, 22:11ven name more than a single digit number of chud devs?
