I know what discussion is about but you give the author you hate publicity. More people will check it out and more will try it. Thanks to the ban it was a pain in the *** to find this mode once I decided to play the game again. It is a very big stretch to compare killing dogs and anti LGBT opinion of the author, and if he said something similar to "kill every gay and lesbian" then I will agree that access to his work and his content should be restricted but I doubt that's the case. He has every right to change in the game he bought what he doesn't like and share it as long as it doesn't break any law or/and harming someone.

Why are you so triggred by that? I thought my gaming i saw incredible amount of mods i found either repulsing or offensive. Yet I simply don't download them. I mean, you can easily find 18+ mods on BG3 and there are some very bad tastes. I simply don't know why you all so worked up. If you don't agree with his/her mods simple don't give him attention. I don't care if there is lesbian romance and if this creator want to mods it away, let him. I doubt that it will get more then few hundreds downloads.

Not in the modding scene, so I am probably missing the power in having something removed altogether. But does no one supporting or downloading the mod/mods also just work to not benefit the creator? We can all see what the mods are and view content created by the author. So can hopefully make decisions from there? As I’m sure there’s never going to be a perfect system for what gets taken down versus allowed to stay. Either way, appreciate you sharing the information.

Let me give you an example of how you could be wrong. An old school Christian belief that marriage is between a man and a woman. The person takes this to mean God doesn't want people to be gay or lesbian etc. The person believes that is God's will and truly believes abiding by that is part of what it takes to go to heaven. The Bible says to love thy enemy. This person takes that as don't persecute them for not believing what you believe. Don't hate them, it says love. Don't vote down gay marriage rights. Don't go to anti LGBT rally carrying a sign that says you're going to hell. Simply believe what you believe and love thy enemy. So this person gives you all of the space you could ever need, but decides on a mod made for them or likeminded people to put in what they believe to be right. But because they dare to think what you do is wrong, YOU persecute THEM, the very people trying to mind their own business and be tolerant. Now the pushback of people who are actively anti LGBT is strong that someone who isn't anti anything is being lumped in and witch hunted because he simply showed what he believes is right. Does that mean he wouldn't hòd a door open for you if your hands were full of groceries? Does that mean he wouldn't clap if you sang a karaoke song well? Does that mean he believes you are a blight to be eradicated? No, it means he holds a belief he would hope you'd allow him to have. Just as he allows you to have yours. Now I'll end by saying I don't know this guy's heart or intent. But if you think EVERYONE who doesn't think being LGBT is right is a horrible person who hates you and your very existence, you're wrong.

Idk, I think I’m of two minds. Speaking strictly of the mods, I don’t care. Switch genders. Turn the characters, white, black, brown, red, green. Change their orientation. Somehow make them all follow a irl religion or one belonging to another fantasy universe. Whatever. In a game like DnD, where imagination and fantasy are king, I say let people do what they want with whatever ideology they want. Socially speaking however, while I don’t care if a mod exists or not, I think it’s totally fair for people to like or not like something and voice it, whatever the content of the mod might be. I don’t know the full drama behind this mod, but I don’t mind mods like these existing. Not because I’m an evil bigot who hates minorities, but because I believe that people should be able to play any game however they want. Either in a traditional way or in a modded way, also there seems to be already other mods in bg3 where you can gender swap the other characters like astarion yet I haven’t seen anyone complain about it. It seems that when it is a gay character being gender swapped is all of a sudden the end of the world, which I find laughable since there is so much gay shipping with straight characters in many fanbases, but if you make a straight ship with gay characters then that’s apparently bigoted. It is an incredibly annoying double standard that really needs to chill. Bottomline, let people have their own fun.

I for all sense & purposes believe that this issue is purely hot air... the only thing this whole issue brings up is giving anti woke people a platform. They are just mods, and if people would stop making it big it wouldn't really be an issue. Gender swapping mods rarely are big mods, and if a gender swap is so ducking important to someone, then go for it I guess. The majority won't care one way or another, them simply remaining a small mod for a niche audience, big deal. I'll continue playing with the regular Aylin until times (if ever) that some mods adding extra lore stuff come out. As an avid supporter of the LGBTQ community...I don't see the issue here. This is not in the base game. This is a mod, that just those who want to use it download. I don't understand how this is "erasure" it's literally optional online content. People are weird for this, sure, but let them be weird on their own. A healthy society draws a line between harmful behavior and simply disagreeable views. Thats called a societal value. They shift pretty regularly throughout time. Yes, but just because something is currently accepted and normalized by society does not mean it is objectively moral. By that logic the holocaust was okay, or forcing women to cover up or get raped in the middle east is okay. If a man finds himself attracted to other men, then that is something he has no control over. Acting on the feeling however is a choice. Will LGBT people in real life no longer exist, because someone installed a mod to a single player game on his own computer? Come on... Because these things always start small. People on nexus have been doing that with straight characters for years. I've been on nexus since 2014. There is literally nothing MORE optional that a mod for a video game. Are we... even living in the same reality? It really does not feel "like almost everyone is woke". In fact I'd wager that there is a very large, and growing backlash against le "woke". The UK government covered up the rates of suicides for transgender people. The US is actively sliding into an authoritarian hellhole, the ruling party not even pretending to care about the constitution anymore. My own home province is trying suceed from the rest of Canada specifically because they are too "woke". Japan just reelected the same conservative government but somehow worse this time (I'm not a hundred percent caught up on Japanese politics, please correct if I'm wildly off-base with that). We are seeing reactionary movements cropping up all over the world, and they are starting to say previously quiet parts out loud. But that's all just "a fringe"

I feel like I am going to be ratioed to hell here but serious question: what is the actual objection here? I don't mean that in a ****** way. But in a practical one. Mods are supposed to allow us to go against the authorial intent of the dev and publisher and tweak the experience so it suits our tastes. So...this dude wants all straights. Okay? I'm a firm believer that if you wanna swap any character into anything else, you can absolutely do it. Race, gender, whatever. If mods that genderswap one way are allowed, then genderswapping the other way should be fine too, same with race. There's a lot of double standards on Nexus. 2 examples: In the Cyberpunk 2077 mods, there's one that allows you to romance Panam as a female, but the one that allows you to romance Judy as a male was removed for the longest time. I have never “defended things like removal of black people from games†first and foremost, the conversation was about gender swapping a character from female to male. Regardless, I’ve never advocated for either black people nor same sex relationships to removed from anything. I said that removing those things from a single player MODDED video game isn’t a big deal. Because it is a single person experience, and how they decide to enjoy that experience is up to them. They spent their money on the game, and if they want to mod out a same sex relationship, or change the skin color of a charter, or change the lighting of an area, or add dice skins they normally wouldn’t have, or add 10 new levels for your character go through, they are able to, and it hurts literally no one. Ultimately If Larian didn’t want those things to be possible, they wouldn’t have allowed modding. So while I get that seeing people download the mod can bring up bad feelings and it’s never ok to not feel wanted, and I’m sorry that mods like this are harming people’s feelings, but someone coming to Reddit and posting this hurt you guys far more than people ignoring it would have. No, I don't think tattoos are anything to do with "self respecting", I simply don't like them. Trying to force someone into a specific opinion to fit your specific worldview so you can argue with them is indeed putting words into someone's mouth. I don't care what Orin or anyone else thinks about the tattoos or their reasons for removing them, 'I' think those specific NPCs look better without, and 'I' like those dresses, so I will use it. You also can't say what's "socially acceptable" or not when certain things are forced by censorship, such as wanting to ban a mod from nexus where the CONTENT does not breach the Nexus TOS. (They explicitly said they removed it multiple times to check). Going by the law seems to be the correct approach, to me, which is what they're doing. Go and take your politics elsewhere. The modpacks that were verifiably borne from hate breach the TOS and they are banned, this is ok, the ones that aren't do not. It's up to each person to decide what they are personally ok with using. I'm ok with pretty dresses and a hot guy, other people may not be. That's alright! But you don't get to say what 'I' should accept or not. AI isn't stealing as nothing has been "taken". If that stupid argument is true then imitation and impressionism is stealing, both things have existed for thousands of years before AI. You say some are against it, I'm sure they are. Some also don't mind or may even support it. Expecting modders (doing work for free for other's enjoyment) to pay when no work has been done is ******* stupid, the original actor got paid already for the work they did, which is on the game. Any work doing an impressionism is done by the modder, or just a person sat using their own voice. The end result is the same if it sounds good enough. I personally hate lazy AI slop (especially news headlines full of errors where they can't even be bothered to check or proofread), but where it's legitimately had work put in to get good quality, that's ok by me.

If someone made a whole bunch of mods gender swapping all sorts of characters across the game, one just so happening to be Dame Aylin, i wouldnt bat an eye. I wouldnt even blink if Aylin was the first one they did, theyre a major NPC after all, it makes sense to start with someone dramatic and important. Heck, I would even go so far as to say I would not have any issue with someone making a mod to tweak sexuality across the game - be it making everyone straight, gay, or anything else. I dont inherently see an issue with that in concept. However, theres a very big difference between making a mod like that for fun, and making one for hate. Just the name "no alphabets" reveals exactly which this was. And while i dont see an issue in concept, in execution its obvious what sort of person a "all straight" mod would attract. You dont make a mod like that without knowing exactly who will be drawn to it. And its pretty clear from reading some of the other comments here that this person absolutely knew what they were doing.

Idk. As a lesbian obviously homophobia bad (WOW) but like. You don’t have to install it. It’s in the same realm as gooner mods for Skyrim. Absolutely degenerate behaviour but if they are removed off Nexus they will go somewhere else or continuously circumvent — you don’t have to install the mod, you can block people and their work. I think it’s super scummy to make mods like these, but these sorts of people will always exist, and lowkey I’d rather it be in the open like this so we can all point and laugh and avoid it rather than snuck in to some other mod.

So I am confused. It’s ok to change characters from male to female but there is a problem when it goes from female to male? The motivations behind it do not matter in my opinion. If they bother you then don’t use the mod, that is how you protest it. This cancel culture has to stop as no one is justified to cancel anyone else. If you don’t like it say so in a respectful manner then go about your business. Others will either join or ignore you. So I will make my opinion clear, I have no problem with this mod but I will not use it as I do not have any problems with a lesbian romance in a video game. Everyone else can do whatever they want. You do know this is a single player game, right? No one is forcing you to download and use a mod, nor are they forcing you play the straight romances if you dont want to. The game has ample support for gay sexualities and the mods are entirely optional. It seems like the only thing this is really about is you attacking someone who's politics you disagree with by accusing him of being evil. Just ignore it.

Usually I don't care for these types of mods, but in the end they're for people to enjoy. Different strokes for different folks, that's what makes modding great in the first place. If you're not thrilled by the idea of a character being a certain gender or having a specific sexual orientation, then don't download the mod. Nexus mods have plenty of other options to choose from. The irony here is, by pointing out this author, you're basically giving them free advertising.

No they didn't. That was a patch *for* that version. That is how patches work. Edit: So you reply and then immediately block. Obviously that makes sense. No, that doesn't make it a requirement for the mod. That makes it a requirement for that patch. The mod can be used without it, which is why the patch was removed and not the mod itself. Mods that conflict are layered. These sorts of replies make me think that you don't even mod the game.

I know that this unpopular opinion on most subreddits but I do think these types of mods have right to exist. They are mods and mods are all about freedom of choice an expression. I share the mentality but it seems that people just don't either care that others have a game preferrence or just blantently ignore that freedom to just to be assholes. IMO from what I hear about this mod (to stay on the topic) it uses AI voices, which isn't exactly a problem but should be an option to have the male AI voices or stay with the female VA voice lines. If it is an option already cool.
