Wow I didn't expect this honestly.
Whew. Ya know what, that's fair enough.
They could have only begrudgingly allowed it, but at the same time they could have also just banned Orin for "off-site behaviour" just like ModDb did for another user.
Adhering to their own rules / hosted country law is of course the bare minimum, but it's a good start. Probably couldn't expect much more from a site operating in 2026 Britain.

And Orin's mere presence is enough to make the ******** seethe.
This is a huge step forward to anti-cancel culture. I also love how they stated they locked comments due to the ******** abusing Orin, kek. (Normally such behaviour is ok as long as it's against the "right" people).

I think its a step in the right direction for neutral modding. Nexus people should move to the US.

People better get buying RPGHQ™ platinum, now that Rusty might end up on the streets due to no longer having a monopoly on controversial modders.

Getting to hot page relies on endorsements not downloads. I don't see any reason for them to freeze that. I think its a matter of bg3 being a 2 year old game.

A Newcastle University graduate with a degree in Journalism, Media, and Culture, they have written hundreds of guides, news stories, and original reports, with bylines in IGN, NME, GaymingMag, and VG247, sourcing interviews with studio heads, legendary industry figures, prominent actors, and more.

An expert on FPS games, Soulslikes, RPGs, and survival horror, James has intimate knowledge of a wide variety of titles, providing in-depth coverage and exclusive profiles. Some of the games they have extensively covered include: Half-Life 3, Counter-Strike, Elden Ring, and Fallout. They pride themselves on their consistently thorough research, leveraging nearly a decade of industry experience. You can reach them at [email protected]

In 2023, the controversial Baldur's Gate 3 modpack 'No Alphabets' — which removed LGBTQ+ aspects from the game — was delisted from the Nexus website, along with the infamous Ser Aylin gender swap, which was explicitly done to make her relationship with Isobel heterosexual. This modpack unfortunately continues to exist and take shape on alternate sites, but the poster was banned, and thus unable to share these creations on one of the largest modding platforms.

However, two days ago, modpack creator orinEsque made a Nexus account to post a new mod called Dignify. On the surface, it appears benign, but at its core, it's a clothing pack that updates several outfits throughout the game, including Astarion and Gale's. Though when it was first uploaded earlier this week, it was a completely different story. Originally, the mod required you to download the 'Alternate Wyll Origin Appearance', which makes him white (this isn't hosted on Nexus itself). After much backlash, the requirement — which, given the nature of the mod, made no sense to begin with — was removed, and the comments disabled.

"You Can See His Bigotry Shine Through"

Image

Even after this update, many have noted that, while not as overt as outright removing LGBTQ+ characters or whitewashing Black companions, Dignify is still rooted in the puritanical sentiment of the 'No Alphabets' pack that made orinEsque such an infamous name in the modding community, as each adjustment to clothing covers up skin or suggestive elements, while an optional download also makes underwear permanent, thus preventing any nudity.

"If you look closer at the mod, you can see his bigotry shine through: of course women have to wear long skirts instead of pants and being modest, Astarion doesn't have any kind of shape in a very tight pant," u/Lavinia_Foxglove noted on r/BG3mods.

It's unclear why Dignify is still available considering the original requirements, especially when taking into consideration Nexus' statement on the whole debacle with the No Alphabets modpack: "We are for inclusivity, we are for diversity," it said. "If we think someone is uploading a mod on our site with the intent to deliberately be against inclusivity and/or diversity then we will take action against it."

orinEsque likewise has not been banned because of Dignify or their association with other controversial mods, which they hint at in their bio, noting that if you like their work, "you can find more" of their mods on other platforms.

This is almost certainly the mod author trying to repackage his mod in such a way that it has just enough plausible deniability for the average person to not catch what's going on.

Redditors genuinely believing that an Oblivion mod with a swastika armband somehow "harms vulnerable minorities" does prove without a shadow of a doubt that they're still living in 2014.

At this point I no longer feel sorry for them. Their continous misery is 100% self-inflicted and they deserve all of it and more.
