Tried Hi-Fi Rush. Turns out I have literally no rhythm. I can't follow the beat based on the audio, I have to just try to memorize the timing between beats and get lucky to sync it up with the music. Anyway, every character introduced so far is an ugly brown man, ugly brown woman, or ugly brown muscle mommy. Meh.

I tried cyber ***** for the first time the other day and was greeted by cyber bugs every other cyber minute. It's also very gay and ********, I think I lost a few brain cells. I decided to ask for a cyber refund and it was cyber approved very quickly.

Not disputed.

I've been watching the game for 50+ minutes. Every single enemy is black-skinned. I think it is very valiant of Rusty to dedicate time to fighting them.

Put 25 hours into Dark Souls 3 for the first time and blind.

At first, it was highly impressive: the level design is an upgrade from DS2 (which had excellent levels), the mobs are easier to defeat, and the game experience is a natural continuation from the previous installments. I expected jarring differences based on how heated discussions get when it comes to DS2 vs DS3 vs DS1. To me, they are extremely similar.

Had a great time with the moment-to-moment gameplay until I reached the cemetery with the endlessly respawning zombies. I realized there is not enough payoff for the brutal fighting that came before. Here, defeat the Crystal Mage. Your reward? Follow this mountain trail to another cemetery.

The work-to-reward ratio is heavily skewed towards work, and I abandon games that expect me to be rewarded by my efforts alone.

My take on Fromsoft's Souls series (including all their similar games such as Sekiro) is that somehow they were able to make two-thirds of a game sell for retail price. The third of the budget that is supposed to go toward the single-player experience - cutscenes, story beats and the like - is nowhere to be found. You are hanging out in a haunted house. Forever.

I think it is okay for games to exist without cutscenes or story. FromSoft fills that niche. For those who want difficult action combat with a lot of cutscenes, there are many games that provide that.

This type of game, with a long-term unpredictable environment, lends itself very well to streaming and communal playing. It is great for hanging out socially. Company makes even beer pong interesting. The third part, the single-player storyline, would actually detract from the communal experience because everybody has to shut up and passively watch the cutscene.

The game has been on my backlog for a while, progress is always slow and I couldn't find enough time to play.
(You can only save in your room, and death is always around the corner - weapon breaks, hunger and injuries)
I did notice everyone looks dirty, and nearly everyone other than yourself has degnerated into deformities but did not find further cues of politics.
I gave it the benefit of doubt and wanted to try finishing without cheating. Maybe I will cheat after all. Thanks for the heads-up.

Wonderland Online used to have a solid English translation. The current version doesn't use it. If you try to dismiss a party member this is what you see:

Despite all my grumbling I'm reinstalling DS3 for the third time in the last four days. I will probably uninstall it later today. I guess no other game experience at this exact moment beats looking at spires and swinging sundry sharpened and unsharpened sticks.

I've decided to try Outer Wilds.
Best death in the first hour is jumping into geyser in tutorial crater.
Pronouns are pretty irritating. I've tried switching to Russian (in a hope of evading they/them), but I've already got accustomed to English names.

Finished a replay of The Outer Worlds, this time as a greedy and dumb stealth melee character working for the Board. I was initially frustrated with the lack of selfish options in some of the sidequests, but I was overall happy with how things turned out.

Switched to Russian after all. Didn't regret it. After 15 mins of accustomization, everything clicks together. And Russian has none of that pronoun business.

I've played for about 3-4 hours, visited all the main planets and got some secrets that I think are probably midgame? Found all the spacemen, including the guy with the fish. Didn't visit hanging city yet. Obviously, didn't farm all the POIs, even ones that could be seen from orbit.
Then the game crashed. And wiped my account together with the save. Restoring the save from the backup didn't help.
**** it, I'll watch the LP some day. Or maybe come back to it in a year or two.

I liked the feel of the game. Very Myst-like. Spaceship planks are cute. Undercity reminded me of the one from the Thief series. I still wonder what exactly made you stuck in a loop - I hope that it's not some handwaving.
I really didn't like that all the planets are superspecial - there're literally no ordinary dustballs there, everything is gimmicky. Also not a fan of 20-minute wipes. I also found that sometimes killing yourself is faster than moving the ordinary way; I think it's bad; dunno, maybe it has some additional meaning in the plot.

The game made me want to play KSP again.

tl;dr I've dropped it. Still, it's a nice adventure game. Recommended.

Just play it again. You can just keep going like nothing happened due to the nature of the game.

Nioh 3. I started Nioh 2 a few weeks ago and played it for about 35 hours until I tried the demo for 3 then I put it to the side. So far I'd say 2 is better than 3 if I had to choose but I like playing at launch for the shitposting so I'm going to keep going on 3 for now

As of about ~12 hours into N3 I absolutely recommend it even if you haven't played Nioh before. It's a lot easier for a newcomer to pick up. The demo is about 8 hours long and saves carry over. I pirated it, of course, since I don't pay cold hard United States currency for gender erasure slop

Other than that I started a replay of FFX, which I only played on launch when I was 9 and never again. I've always regarded it very highly but I just don't remember much of the game, I've been meaning to play it again for years and just never got around to it. After all these years I'm way more familiar with the OST than the game itself, so it's been fun to see where all of the songs actually go. And slowly going through KH2 with my daughter still, we're probably getting close to halfway through

Still gotta get back to Kurohyo which I'm getting close to the end on I just haven't booted it up in a while
