Engine reimplementation with many fixes and various enhancements like much better pathfinding.
This the best way to play today? I just tried manual installing MWSE, MGE XE, MCP, and Patch for Purists, but I think I've wrecked the Data Files folder and will have to start again. Apparently openmw is really easy because there are bundled mods so it's plug and play, but there are folk who advocate for MGE XE because openmw is 'fan-made engine, not true experience'.

I'm beginning to understand @Tweed's negativity surrounding this...
I hate them.

The easiest is probably to install the GOG version. Though you'd need a mod to change the aspect ratio to 16:9.

I am using the GOG version. I'll just follow that guide I posted earlier. I wanted to manually install the mods, but looks like I'll need to use a mod manager.

OpenMW still doesn't support certain mods, but for a painless installation process it's probably the way to go. If you insist on using a lot of mods for OG Morrowind then I recommend downloading mlox which is like the MW version of LOOT.

any good companion mods that add to my immershun?
I know how much you love homo trauma and rape, thus I present the best companion mod for your pleasure.

https://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/52935

I opened it up in the CS out of curiousity a while back and the first modded topic in the list was gay sex.

I recommend, at bare minimum, Glancing Blows and Crits. If you're playing MWSE, that is.

Outside of Arena, MW is the (main series) Elder Scrolls game that I've put the least amount of time into. Heck, I've prob spent more time listening to analysis videos on the game, during roadtrips, than I have actually playing it. RPGs have been a struggle to get into lately, but if one were going to rekindle something, I would hope it's this one.

Canonically, they're often bisexual, like Vivec.

I was aiming at getting all the books in that playthrough. But since I had no idea how to use the editor, I didn't know how to check whether I got them all.
Also, I didn't know that you can have a stronghold, so I lived in Cosades' hovel and began to run out of place to store them all.

Reboting that save was such a blast from the past. I'm seriously itching to do a thorough playthrough, even though I definitely have no time for it. Life is pain.

No they aren't, it never says this anywhere. This entire rumour was started by ******** and homosexuals who have infiltrated the TES sphere for decades now, and as I noted before, no one should trust Kirkbride as he deeply blew up his ego by interacting with fans post-release, making up all kinds of random **** that wasn't even officially done working for Bestheda. I get it, the joke is funny, I don't mind that, but there's no basis for it whatsoever.

I went with Total Overhaul. Is this overkill for a first-time player? I'm just messing around the opening area right now and everything seems to be working correctly. Only thing that's bothering me is this annoying delayed sound effect whenever I enter sneak mode. I'm doing a stealth build, so I don't want to put up with that for the entire thing. Anyone else experiencing this?

Let's see... (it's good that I have Construction set installed).
The Buoyant Armigers pattern themselves on Lord Vivec's heroic spirit of exploration and adventure, and they emulate his mastery of the varied arts of personal combat, chivalric courtesy, and subtle verse.
And what kind of personal combat, subtle verse and adventure could it be, huh?

So, while the prose is pretty esoteric and there's almost never a direct statement like "his **** entered her ****"...
And even Muatra could be interpreted not as a meat shlong but as a metaphysical concentration of aggressive will.
And I find all that to be very fitting for a proper representation of cosmology.
...I'm quite sure of the meaning of titillation.

You may have different headcanon, of course. The source material is vague enough.
I have mine for the last 15 or 20 years and quite content with it.

I always thought that it adds character. All elves are sluts, Dunmer are sluts, so when ordinators go too grimdark and puritan you might suspect that something is wrong there.
(not that there's something wrong with puritanism)

Muatra is his spear. Defeating BARFOK was avoiding the use of the voice. It has little to nothing to do with sex.

A similar reading is true for the rest.

The Molag Bal part is debateable, but it is still poetic verse, and unlikely literal.

Good luck with those poor souls about to step off a boat, get randomly attacked by cliff racers, and click 20 times to swing your sword but only hit once. The game is a sleep simulator where you are constantly teleporting back to base to rest HP to full and port back into the world.

One thing I did find neat was that there were multiple different guild branches. You go to Balmora and find the Thieves' guild or the Mage's guild there, do quests for them, and then find out that there are branches in other cities. It's not like Skyrim where there is just the College of Winterhold or the Thieves guild in Riften. That did make it feel more like a fleshed out place. Sadly it feels like RPGs often don't have redundancies like that.

There was also variety within the factions too. I remember joining house Telvaani, but then I got to pick one of five different masters to work for, and wound up apprenticing and spending a lot of time working for a benign guy who lives in a castle with thorns breaking into it. And that is just one master.
