Well, the first was as well.
The thing is that it's irrelevant insofar as it doesn't help the game even if you like anime, it's way worse than the original, which had at least some redeeming qualities. I managed to finish Code Vein for example, was mediocre in most ways, but good enough for a playthrough imo.
This one I wouldn't play if it was free.

It's sad seeing the Japanese devs going down the shitter like this. There soon will be nowhere/nobody left to develop decent AA/AAA titles.

First uncensored mod for Code Vein 2 is up on Nexus. As of right now it only uncensors some of the returning outfits from Code Vein 1.

Been playing the Nioh 3 demo and so far I have mixed feelings. I won't make any definitive statements since its only the demo and only the first area on NG. I think the open world is okay. Surprisingly decent even. Is it Elden Ring good? No. But it serves its purpose. I do want to clarify that these are more open levels then an open world proper. They basically condensed all the side missions that would of otherwise have reused the same levels from past games into one big map instead of isolated instances and also made those shorter. I really think they are trying to reinvent the wheel with the samurai/ninja system when imo Nioh 2 already had an amazing thing going for it with yokai form and soul cores. Any weapon that got thrown into ninja mode no longer has high and low stance (they now have 1 unique moveset) and honestly its a downgrade. Switching between the 2 feels...odd. Maybe I'll grow to like it as I play the game more.

We're finally getting the long awaited lifting the veil episode covering combat this Friday for lotf. Hopefully we'll get to see some actual gameplay or wip animation work interspersed in the episode.

Nioh 3 is an awesome game, but dear Me/God is it a much easier game. Only 7 hours played (inc demo) though. I am praying for the challenges of Nioh 2. Possibly in DLC and expansions.

I'd give it more time. The first map alone is genuinely massive and the demo is maybe 1/3rd of it and there's apparently 3 more open world levels and some standalone missions as well. Also these games are meant to be played through multiple NG cycles so we'll see how it ends up.

It's been delayed to an unspecified date next week. No reason as to why but we will see actual gameplay according to Marek. This is all on xitter btw. No I will not bother linking anything this time around. If they can't be assed to stick to the date they set for themselves then I can't be assed to post sources.

Been playing around with Nioh 3 demo since I'm too broke to buy.

It seems to have the makings of being a good entry, naturally early game is hard to compare to nioh 2 after a few NG cycles, but all pieces seem to be there. Open world actually works, I was easily sucked into exploring and looking for hidden loot and it was a good time. Challenge-wise I don't know yet, early bosses are unsurprisingly easy, but there was some optional revenant boss that was fairly scary.

They did do body 1/2 cringe, and the presets are full of ****** faces, which is disappointing to see.

Performance seems sketchy, the game can't run on max settings without slopLSS, while not really looking much different from Nioh 2 which could. That said with slopLSS on it seems to run somewhat smoothly, but I still don't get it where the perf is getting lost.

I am genuinely curious what the JP release of the game looks like vs western in terms of censorship and face presets.

That said out of all the slop coming out this still seems like one of the few playable games that is not a direct downgrade from previous entries. Ninja/samurai mode split is odd to me, but so far it's been working ok. I think I'd still rather just have 2 weapons in samurai mode though, rather than 1 in each. Ninjutsu change I'd say is a positive, and ninja mode by itself is pretty fun, a more low entry barrier way to play I imagine. That said I'd definitely recommend mastering stances in samurai mode. Not being part yokai and still having most the gameplay features is a bit weird, but whatever I guess, they had to differentiate the protagonists. That said protagonist being a future shogun does feel like the opposite of "blank slate" type usually required for character creation, especially with a sex selector - no way they would make a woman a shogun.

Overall I'm still interested to play, but since I'm broke it will be a tough one to pull off, and I'd rather have multiplayer available too since it was a fun part of the game.

Full game has been a lot of fun for me so far. The co-op is seamless and you can go through the whole game with your buddy with shared progression. The only stains on an otherwise great game are the type 1/type 2 body type bull **** and they censored fukus outfit.

Glad you guys are enjoying it, I'm liking it a lot too. Finally going to push onto the 2nd area after exploring the **** out of the first map, I pirated it though because I refuse to buy Type A/B and not only that they are charging like $110 if you want the DLC

When they get close to dropping the dlc it'll be sold separately for like 10-20 bucks.

Yeah, I have just finished the demo and besides a few censorship/type 1 and 2 complaints it's been good. Only sore point is performance which for some reason was abysmal in a couple places and toning graphics down to around low/standard with SlopLSS at 75% stabilizes the situation somewhat on my 3080Ti.

Problem is - I can't afford the full game anyway. I'm already spread thin with bills and food expenses, I have nothing to spare unless I decide to "fast" for a week. $70+ after tax hurts, and they want $110+ for season pass bundle. And without multiplayer I don't see much incentive to buy it since it's a big part of enjoyment for me.

Well, I guess I tentatively recommend the game, but will still **** on it for body type garbage and silly censoring.

I know, as most things are. But I want working multiplayer otherwise there's not much point to get a degraded experience. If I can't get MP I might as well just wait until better times and pick it up then.

It's that time again for the LOTF update and this time we have the long awaited episode on combat. As always I watched it so none of you have to and made some bullet points.

(All footage shown was from an alpha build and placeholder animations from lotf 2023 were being used such as for some of the enemies)
  • They immediately brought up one of the biggest complaints from 2023 was how floaty it was and one of their top priorities was adding weight to the combat
  • Due to the overwhelmingly positive feedback from upping the pace of combat in 2023 in later updates the combat is much faster and snappier in the sequel
  • The enemies shown off did look really cool and its bummer they weren't using their actual animations
  • They showed off gameplay for the scythe which is a new weapon type for the sequel and it looks sick
  • They wanted umbral to be integrated more into the general combat from 2023. Did not elaborate on specifics as that'll likely be brought up in the dedicated umbral episode
  • They specifically mentioned not wanting lotf combat to just be like dark souls and felt the increased focus on viable duel wielding was one of the ways lotf is unique
  • There was an effort to diversify the movesets for weapons in the sequel which was another big complaint coming from 2023
  • They showed off new animations for the longsword and they genuinely look really cool
  • I'm hoping they were using placeholder sfx in the alpha as the sounds still lack weight when blocking and deflecting
  • One of the new guys they brought on to the team is this super buff white guy that came into the interview with pages upon pages of feedback and criticism for lotf 2023. I only bring it up because its a funny story
  • They wanted to focus on the power fantasy of being a crusader
  • Executions are implied to have gameplay element beyond just looking cool
  • Jump attacks are now a thing
  • They wanted to make spellcasting even more seamless in regards to juggling casting and melee from 2023
  • The lamp has a dedicated button now
  • They described designing the scythe as having the fantasy of being a grim reaper and a big focus for the weapon class is area control
  • They diversified the environments to not just be all narrow hallways and corridors
  • I do wish they would choose better questions from the people they poll from instead of non-questions
Over all good episode lots of positives here but I would prefer to see either a demo or gameplay with the finished animations and sounds.

I thought the combat wasn't that floaty. It was less floaty than DS2 even at launch and certainly much less floaty now. I have no idea why it's as hard as it is to emulate From's combat; they've been doing the same thing for almost two decades and LotF has come the closest, at least imo. It's a good thing they're pivoting into doing their own thing though.

The mosveset thing is definitely important. DS2 had much of the same problem: it was a regression from DS1. DS1's weapons didn't have a ton of moveset variations but it was enough to notice in part due to the relatively small pool. Take greatsword class weapons for example; the claymore had a thrust on its R2, the ******* sword had a sweep, the flamberge had a different sweep, the great lord's greatsword had a downward chop, etc. Each weapon class in DS2 had at best two variants across the entire class and DS2 had much more weapons, maybe I'm forgetting about an outlier I don't really care. It made the game feel smaller and did a disservice to the very exotic boss weapons that appeared in game.

It's funny that the entire caste of people regurgitating contrarian youtuber's decade-out-of-date glazed takes about DS2 didn't extend a similar courtesy to LotF.

The lantern/catalyst swap and stance was easily the most clunky aspect of combat. A dedicated cast key or multiple R/L weapon slots treating the casting tool the same as From does would fix it but I'm curious what their solution will be.

They're saying all the right things. Thanks for doing the needful.

The lantern itself and how they limited you to only having 1 "ranged" option equipped at a time was very clunky but for me personally actually casting in lotf was good. Also not sure where you are getting ds2 having less moveset variety then ds1 when it has more then ds3 and ******* elden ring.

The amount of unique movesets relative to the amount of weapons was lesser than DS1. Very few DS1 weapons shared full movesets and when they did, it was weapons within classes like hammers and straight swords. I don't remember the intricacies of DS3 well enough to comment there. I'm not doubting you, that's just how I remember it.

I was recently playing through Dark Souls 2 scholar and one of the key things was the amount of diversity each of the weapons within their own category had. Hell some weapons had completely unique movesets exclusive to just that individual weapon like santiers spear and sir yorghs spear. Now if you were referring to elden ring i wouldn't have any disagreements. Every weapon in its category has 1 of 2 movesets and you'd be lucky if there was any variation to them.

I want to point out an immediate improvement going from lotf 2023 to lotf 2026 is every npc has been 100% white. New characters are Omeuras, Lucian, Lythienne, Montague, and Thaddeus. I don't count scion since she's a boss fight but who knows she may actually be an interactable npc.

Some news today but there's speculation that CI games capital raise mentioned in a prior transparency report may be used to buy back PC exclusivity so it can release on Steam. CEO Marek on Xitter hints this very well may be the case. The game releasing only on epic has been a major sore point and its brought up constantly on all platforms. Investing the money to buy back exclusivity may very well mean CI games is taking a second chance (and risk) on steam revenue.

Suffah Bluepoint! Seriously this studio is made of total hacks. Arrogant, smug, libshits who thought their vision was just so much better then Fromsofts. I'm genuinely glad they shut down. Talk about butchering the art, atmosphere, and music of an old but gold game.

We at least have the emulated version which I hear is pretty good. I played the og on ps3 via the downloaded version way back when.

Would be best if Miyazaki dropped dead on the spot.
Otherwise he'll become a clown like Kojimbo.
