It's not too similar to DOS at all from what I can tell, much closer to their previous game except combat is no longer on a separate screen

Not a fan of the at-will respec tbh. But it's about the only offensive thing I can see prior to playing.
Seems the full game is about 15-20 hours(?) for people that like games on the shorter side. Don't know if that's skipping side-content or not.

Default controls are a bit silly, I suggest rebinding select units to function keys and abilities to number keys so you can get a sensible camera movement binding.

This is on hard, using Kaela as a mage tank. Spamming magic shield and kiting when possible, I do agree that a warrior would probably get swarmed a bit with what I have seen so far

Hard difficulty now starts at a higher level and scales more aggressively.

Insane difficulty is now as intended - requiring you to essentially break the game finding OP combinations of skills, enchants and using skill synergies.
DEFINITELY not recommended if you are not familiar with Dark Envoy RPG systems. We apologize in advance for any anguish this mode might may cause.

I'm way past the first mission, on hard my adept gets killed in 2-3 hits through shield.

No actually, the first ice spell you get wrecks. It's multi proj but can shotgun a single target. On a character with maximized power stat it hits very hard for current level

damage profile is x3 because of 3 projectiles, and the weapon ability is chain shot adding ricochet to every projectile

if you click the little rotating arrows on abilities with it, they auto-cast

Yeah, most of the mechanics work really similarly to Tower of Time.

My 2H warrior does a lot of damage. Bumped the difficulty back up to hard.

You can't respec out of specializations btw. If you're planning on what characters to pick, so far they've given me a guardian companion.

Also, warrior has no 2H specialization? I'm confused.

Decent enough.
If you played their previous game, it's pretty much more of that. Excels at combat and bosses.

Seem to have improved itemization and there's a lot more stats to play around with now. Also, unique items aren't just randomly generated puke.
Downside is, there's still randomly generated loot, and drops are randomized.
Don't particularly like being able to respec at will.

$30 is a decent price for it, I guess.

You can farm those puzzles in the ancient ruins for gold,takes a strong build. The waves are in a loop, so they start weak to strong then start over back at weak. The only thing the spirit enemies drop is gold.

Combat gets really tacticool once you have a 4 member party.
Companions(not spoiling because it will help people decide on what classes to pick): Warrior(guardian)/Adept(medic)/Ranger(?? can't remember)/Engineer(construction)
