I can't tell if this is purely an independent tool or not. From what I can find, he does rely on the game code to make his VR stuff work. His comments have been very much around "modders deserve to be paid for their work" so I can't feel too sorry for him.

It sounds like it is primarily an independent tool that hijacks the games rendering to use VR displays, but that he also has code patches for each supported games to address bugs this causes. It seems somewhere between a mod and what AMD did to inject their "low latency" driver code into games a few years ago. The game studios didn't pursue legal action against AMD over it, but they did threaten to ban any players using the AMD modifications. GPU drivers are also known to include game-specific patches, but the changes these make are likely much smaller than the changes made by the VR mods.

Mods should be free, and donations are ******* lame. I do not give a single **** hair what anyone thinks. Oh you worked "hundreds of hours" on a FREE mod on YOUR OWN time? And the pay off is people celebrating it? You poor thing. You going to be okay? Maybe get a job in game development if you want to be paid for this crap.

Mods, unless they break a law or are dangerously close to towing a line(like adding fuckable kids or some ****), should not be removed. Nexus are ******* god awful with enforcing consistent forum policies. The site is run by legitimate ****** clowns who probably think having dragon dildos and rainbow stickers on your PC is "cool."

I've practically abandoned modding because of nexus and their **** decisions from the last 10 years. I made my first account on there back in 2008, back when you could have spaces in your name. I was like 13 or 14. It was so much cooler back then. You could make jokes about aids and no one cared. Eventually, around 2011 it became a cess pit of liberals and progressives who wanted to turn their site into a safe space for special little dunce **** ****** berries.

OPTIONAL donations are fine. Often modders are busy fixing and tweaking stuff that specific people ask for, rather than just doing what they personally find best.

Agree with the rest, Nexus is rotten to the core. I had a 10+ y/o account on there, too.
