Bernd is also a semi-modern cliché german name for gen x'ers and a bit younger, famous from characters like Bernd das Brot which @stormvermin posted

or Bernd Stromberg, the german equivalent of our "the Office"

I like the quarians, they're just 3-fingered humans with ****** immune systems. And it's interesting to hear about all the **** they have to go through and rules to be adhered in order to keep their flotilla society functional.
The Council doesn't want you to know this but planets in the Armstrong Nebula are free you can colonize them I've squatted 458 planets.
Mass Effect, like near most sci-fi that isn't in a book written by someone like Larry Niven, falls apart if you ask too many questions.
The codex of Mass Effect goes surprisingly in-depth on the setting. The game doesn't really convey it clearly, but the degree to which the galactic civilizations are dependent on the Mass Relays is crazy. The codex says that only 1% of the Council space has been explored. They basically explore a major Relay system and the immediate surrounding systems that are reachable through minor Relays and don't bother exploring all the in-between space. FTL travel without the Relays is still very, very slow.
To colonize a planet with the Council support takes a lot of time and resources. Trying to find a habitable world and colonize it discretely without anyone knowing is prohibitively expensive.

Yes, the Codex does a lot of lifting if you stop to actually listen to it. Really enjoyable.

Something fun not explored at all is the idea that there could be entirely separate groups of races being harvested simultaneously that never encounter each other because their gates simply aren't linked.

Better premise for Andromeda than we got. Though I'd really prefer a Mass Effect that continues without the reapers holding it back.

a good direction for a potential ME trilogy sequel would've been the exploration of ramifications of the war against reapers.

All the star systems getting cut off from each other after the relays got destroyed, remote colonies dying due to the lack of supplies or falling into mad max / lord of flies dystopian scenarios, governments crumbling into millions of pieces, powerful high-tech nations (like asaris or salarians) falling into stone age. Geth mobile platforms, after getting cut off from their cloud servers, splintering into a gazillion of groups, each with their own ideas. Lack of communication causing people from remote planets continue thinking that the reaper threat is still present. Collectors waking up from the indoctrination and realizing the horror of their own existence. Aliens species getting stranded on foreign planets, and having to go 'native' and assimilating into foreign cultures. Humanity, being the freshest race to discover the prothean tech, still retains the know-how and the institutional knowledge on how to build their own autarkic FTL systems that are not reliant on the global supply chains, and thus has an edge in the upcoming galactical reconquista against the other races.

I swear to ******* god I'm going to pull my hair out. What is it about Linux that makes **** like the EA App just go braindead? I ALREADY HAVE the Mass Effect Legendary Edition Installed you piece of **** software; just LINK to it! But no, it just tries to download it again, on the same drive.

I know the real problem is requiring your PROpRieTarY lAUnCher to load a goddamn game but geez man it's like pulling teeth.

Hopefully EA had a cloud save, which is why I'm trying to get app to cooperate. If not, I've got a screenshot but man, I wanted to finish this run, probably should've waited to switch till afterwords...

Beat it again in one sitting because I needed something to play while listening to Kino Casino on the second monitor.
Skipped ALL the dialogue this time and cut out almost 3 whole hours.

Played as an Engineer to unlock the Tech skills achievements, but still ended up using the assault rifle and relying on the biotics in my squad for the majority of the game.
One of the little green things on Noveria glitched out and didn't disappear, so I took this screenshot.

I doubt I'm alone in my love of Mass Effect. Finarfin, TheEmptyRoad, and Bertram_Tung would be in the same club.
Although, their love might be less pure, considering that they can stomach the ****** remaster.
