Stormtrooper armor involves grinding some PVP invasion **** so that's out as well. I simply do not think this is a game for me.
I'm just stating the facts.
Question is are you going to gargle the truth or swallow?

For some reason, the default character movement/camera controls are janky. There are two settings you will want to change to restore traditional MMO control. You will want to rebind "toggle mouse mode". It is by default alt (the alt binding cannot be eliminated, so it will be annoying if you alt+tab out and accidentally flip it, but once you rebind it to say, a side button on your mouse, then it will be pretty easy to get back your normal control. Next, you will want to toggle off chase camera. That way when you right click to drag the mouse, your character does not turn along with your camera, so you will be able to rotate your camera around and see the front of your character.

Combat controls: once again there is jankiness where by default, you have to hold down your left mouse button over a moving mob (very difficult to do with your camera zoomed out like in a traditional MMO model). To fix this, you want to have mouse mode keybound and toggled back to regular MMO camera control (ie no target reticle in the middle of your screen). And then what you want to do is to open up your key binds and clear these five keybinds, and set "set intended target" to the left mouse button. And bind "select target and summon radial menu" to your right mouse button:

Scroll down to the bottom of the list and bind autoaim keybind to Y and your autoattack keybind to 5, or whichever number you want.

Then what you do is you walk up to a critter, you left click them to set them as target, and then press 5 and your character will start autoattacking that critter without you having to press or hold any more buttons. If it doesn't work, then press Y to turn autoaim back on, and then press 5 again.

Beware that this will mean that you will no longer be able to just left click on NPCs or objects to talk/interact with them. You will instead have to right click on them to bring up a radial menu, and then left click the option you want. Right clicking a NPC looks like this:

When do we plan to play tonight? 5 PM PST like when on Horizon?

To be honest, this just made me want to get back into SWTOR.

Made an account, taking a long time for them to activate it. I've got to finish KOTOR and then after that, July is going to be busy for me IRL so realistically I probably wont have much time to play until August at the earliest.

So whatever happened to this?

Rusty said "oooh nooo i cant into controls" and everyone just gave up?

That's gay. If Kalarion & friends can handle old school everquest then this game should be fine.

I think the intro experience of constantly running back and forth trying to get people on the same page and going up and down elevators and being confused by the samey decks frustrated a lot of people. After 1 or 2 hours we finally reached the first town on Tatooine and got our freebie landspeeders, mostly everyone but me had logged off.

And then the actual movement controls weren't that fun (unlike say FF11, which is relaxing to play with a controller, after you get used to the unusual setup). The fidelity/aesthetics of the game was pretty poor. The average difficulty of the quests was not hard enough to really incentivize needing a party like in FF11 where you need one almost immediately, so people were thinking about how dull the questing would be if people could just log on their own time instead of needing to do it together. And then seeing how unpopulated the large city streets were (only 10 to 15 active players running around outside, a lot more AFK in the tavern) probably also turned people off. I think many people would not have been interested in coming back even before my writeups.

The main difficulty for these multiplayer games is trying to get enough people's schedules to coordinate at the same time.

The intro experience is often rough with these old games. But you stick it out, and soon enough you're running a town. Selling clothes to each other and dancing for each other and camping out on top of a mountain under the light of two moons.
