Hearing Marina Sirtis voice a villain was disconcerting.
She's surprisingly **** at voice acting. Well, I guess it shouldn't be surprising, considering how many film actors are **** at voice acting. That and the fact that she's ethnic.
Her performance on Noveria is pretty shoddy.

“What are you doing?!?” Yells Garrus at Wrex after Wrex shoots the Crime Lord in the face.

Garrus my guy, YOU WERE THERE when this BOUNTY HUNTER told us he was going to KILL this man.

OMFG shotguns are short-er ranged weapons, not ‘In my personal space’-range weapons ****. Y’know I might just do a Biotic version of J1M’s Pistol Build.

Man even this early in the game, getting Adrenaline Rush on a Powers-Using Class is insane. Heheh, Singularity and Lift go fwoosh.

If you get out of the Mako and kill the enemies by yourself, you get more XP.
I always get out and snipe all the Geth Colossi and huge turrets to reap more rewards.
Works on the Thresher Maws too. Shoot them with the Mako rockets once or twice and then get out to finish the job with the sniper rifle. Quick and easy additional XP.
Also works for Geth ambushes. You just drive away to hide behind some hill and then peek out to take potshots at Geth Armatures and the like.

Just tested, and it looks like you can upgrade your speech skill almost to max (14/16) before even leaving the Citadel for the first time after becoming a spectre. And then the last two can only be unlocked shortly before Virmire. Feels very artificial.

It is one of the small handful of high production value WRPGs with good visual presentation (ie movie like cutscenes with full voice acting, not boring medieval fantasy, neat alien designs with the Turains, etc). The only others like it are Witcher 3 and BG3, which Westerners latched onto for similar reasons because of the visual quality.

If you are going to cheese XP like this I believe there is a value in the ini file to change the mako XP scaling.

Was the X57 asteroid part of the base game? I don't remember doing it when I played it as a kid but it's entirely possible that I just missed it. I randomly went there immediately after leaving the Citadel for the first time and what do you know, the guy will give you what seems to be the best omni tool in the game if you ask for it.

Its tier 10 version must be disgusting because the tier 5 version is like three times better than any of the tier 8 **** that's currently dropping.

I forgot that UNC: Cerberus nets you overpowered guns and armor and did it at like level 20. So, now it's all tier IV. Even then the stats are better than my equipped tier IIIs by over 100 points.
Oh, well, I'll save it for later on my next playthrough.

It seems like Legendary Edition rebalances ME1's insanity difficulty. I expected all enemies to turn into annoying bulletsponges, but didn't really feel much difference in hp. Well they do have more hp, but the bump-up is reasonable. The more important change is that now they do a ton of damage and kill you very fast, making crowd control more important.

Died like ten times to a krogan miniboss at the end of 'recruit Liara' mission. The cutscene ends with us standing right in front of the krogan and his geth minions, so they kill my two party members almost instantly.

I've replayed the original ME1 for this on the Veteran difficulty (it was the hardest available since I'm on a clean reinstall). It's surprisingly easy, especially compared to something like Dragon Age Origins, where Very Hard is indeed very hard.

The Krogan Battlemaster mini-boss is a sudden spike across all difficulty settings. You have to scatter for cover as soon as the cutscene ends. The Geth mobs don't have a lot of HP and die from a couple of shots.
He's only difficult because he's programmed to go straight into melee where he oneshots everything. Kite him around cover and always keep as much distance as you can. Lifting him with biotics is a very good tactic.

Yeah, I've finished that mission a while ago. Playing as a biotic and having two biotics in your party is basically a must, since you can just ragdoll most of the dangerous enemies right away with throws/lifts/singularities. However, I'm intentionally gimping myself by bringing Garrus.

Funny how "everybody" seems to hate Udina. While yes, he was kind of a typical politician scumbag, mostly for backstabbing and grounding Shepard in the end. But even that was understandable from his point of view.

Apart from that, he always had humanity's interests at heart and stood up for them, plus his powerplay if you sacrifice the council in the kino secret conversation with Anderson to make humanity the top dawg of the galaxy was super based, especially his ending monologue.

Also, his voice actor is insanely good.

Overall, he was just a true humanity first based chad. So of course all the normies and libtards hate him.
Maybe as much as I hate how Bioware ****** him over later. Him going from believing the Reapers are real and that there's a war coming, to him making a 180 turn in ME2 was total crap. Imagine how cool it would have been if after the antagonism between him and Anderson in ME1, they actually became sort of bros fighting the good fight against the Reaper deniers and supporting Shepard

ME1 is good as a standalone game. The more you play the sequels, the more it gets ruined retroactively.

Don't get me wrong, I still really like ME2 and ME3, but they have so much issues that ME1 just doesn't have. I've been saying for a long time it's the best of the trilogy, and over the years that opinion has only grown stronger.
