I don't like Witcher 3 but I gotta admit the game looks pretty good, been doing so since it came out.
I think Elden Ring is the closest experience I've ever had to Skyrim in a non-MMORPG game when it comes to exploration. I was about to offer to buy you a copy after I pay off the med. debt, but apparently the lowest its been was over 30 quid. If it was to drop to 20 I'd be more generous (no homo, I just want to live it up a bit once I'm free). I managed to get the respec by getting randos to clear the boss needed for that for me, so now I can play normally.

In exploration terms yeah I agree these games are goated, if you set yourself into exploring all corners around the map you get rewarded well and find cool stuff and enemies to fight, or at least a beautiful landscape (I'm never forgetting my first time reaching the ash lake, even if it was mostly empty it was ******* beautiful... and fighting the hydra was EPIC even if janky at times). As I said I didn't get very far in Elden Ring, but that's what I expect with a Fromsoft game of the like and they've never disappointed in that regard, I did have my fun just messing around with Elden Ring's map.
What MMORPGs have given you this feeling?

Good memories(not my pic)
Ash Lake is life-changing, my man. It made me FEEL. I am enjoying Elden Ring tremendously. It is the most alive feeling game I've ever played. The enemies fighting each other, the patrols, enemies getting scared of me, the ambushes, the weather, the time changes... Everything just goes together so well. I may change my mind about Elden Ring haha. I may even end up buying the DLC... ^ ^' Elden Ring sadly never got the WHOAH moment from me Ash Lake and Shrine of Amara did. I used to run in DS1 with same helmet as you, but the leather trousers I thing from the priest sin absolution guy and then the hollow crop-top armor.
I had the giant slab sword you get from hitting the Ash Lake dragon on the tail as my weapon. I accidentally stopped lvling STR exactly on its requirement (it doesn't scale) and I was so happy. I played through the entirety of DS1 when I was homeless. I was literally playing sitting on the ground at my buddy's place, because he let me plug in my 'puter on his floor. My back was wrecked, but I was the happiest I could be.
Perfect World, now known as Perfect World International. There was a crystal crevice area on the map. I literally went on my first e-dates there as a tween.
I remember when they were adding the underwater city, before it was added, if you went in its direction there was a huge serpent-dragon patrolling the area and it killed me.
The game was absolutely amazing. I've never played anything like this around that time, and I think it was one of my first ever games. I haven't really experienced its marvel since.
I find it a huge pity I can't find any screenshots showing its scenery. It had a system where you were able to ride on a mount together or carry another person.

They were working on a new installment, but it looks trash: and seems to be in a development hell.

The game was initially released in 2006. I remember playing as a fox lady (class was gender locked) to be able to have summons. The screen with the fox was a form the fox lady could take on. There were elves who had wings. Man, such great memories. I was barely playing the game at all. I was mostly traveling through its huge open world map enjoying the sights, talking to people.

Apparently another mmo I played later on, Forsaken World, was from same devs. I remember how hot the female characters were... ^ ^'

It didn't have anywhere as cool of a map though.

PWI was one of the first MMOs I ever played after I started branching out from Air Rivals. I remember playing when the underwater expansion came out. I played an Untamed tiger beastman warrior, and a male mermaid psychic. The music was amazing. A couple years ago when I researched the origins of the music, most of it was apparently not original and made for the game but taken from early 2000s and late 1990s British instrumental albums. I wonder how those discs made their way into China, or if they were only for the global version of the game.
I remember running across the mainland and this music playing. Still sticks with me all of these years later.
I remember journeying to the central city, and then the sweeping sad grandiose music playing. Turns out the track is called 人间天上谁堪寄 Mourn Her Husband by Wang Junxiong.
Bro you've unlocked some memories with the soundtrack. I had no recollection of it until the first notes from the 1st song played.
I think I remember Fraîcheur du soir somewhere around the starting beastman area? I still remember the pose the vixen was taking to cast the 1st ranged spell with the arms above the head.
HOLY **** THE EVERYWHERE SONG YESSSS YES!

Man, @jcd , thank you for asking that question. I needed that. Today may be the best day of my life in years. I am so happy. And thank you @Val the Moofia Boss for also sharing!

I managed to use my hackerman skills to get into screenshots from when Forsaken World was listed on Steam. Enjoy:
I miss when games weren't scared of heterosexuality.
I miss games which let you be attractive. I felt so represented. People like me aren't shown in media anymore.
I wish all old MMOs would get re-released with unsquished textures and upgraded combat. Oh, and with lolis and furfags removed, ofc. Furfags can be left as enemies only to be killed.

FF14 and Where Winds Meet let you look nice. Unless you mean being a grizzled dwarf, in which case WoW is still around.Maledict wrote: ↑ January 6th, 2026, 20:21I miss games which let you be attractive. I felt so represented. People like me aren't shown in media anymore.
Has anyone played Requiem MMO? I haven't played it as a kid, because I remember getting the be 18+ warning thing, and I worried I'd get in trouble.
I played it somewhat recently. It looks amazing, but apparently the neo-devs removed a lot of the started content, so the game makes no sense to new players. The combat is also painful, especially with the weird server lag. I would love for those games to have more of a combat which TERA had.
