I really hate what they did to Udina in ME3, one of the many ways the writing declined horrifically.

Writing in ME2 was already getting crappy. The human council not giving a single **** that human colonies are getting got without a trace. Garrus going vigilante even if you convince him to go Lawful Good in ME1. Ashley/Kaidan chimping out at Shepard even if you never encountered Cerberus in ME1. Killing and resurrecting Shepard was ********.

the writers even dared to put a joke about it in the shadow broker dlc. "hey remember those older heat sinks that were constantly overheating? haha we are so self-aware"

ME3 adds them back as optional mods which is pretty cool.

Yes, you blue ******, I do remember when we had universally compatible technology that made our lives easier in this sci-fi setting. But now we have to wait five minutes until your holographic lockpick breaks a single door.

ME2 has a mod that makes a hybrid system with unlimited ammo.

They would have done better with a Tower of Hanoi joke. Apparently, most of the mouthbreathers couldn't solve one of the easiest and oldest puzzles in existence.

I can't believe how that idea got approval. I'm guessing they went with it so they could essentially make Shepard a blank slate again for newcomers to the series but it's an obvious middle finger to those who played the original. Worst part of it imo is they didn't even really commit to the bit. We see the Normandy get destroyed and it's supposed to be an emotional thing but then it's given back to us after the tutorial level. Everyone in the galaxy also knows that you're alive again once you finish Omega. Even if you tell Captain Bailey on the citadel to keep your status as dead you'll immediately get emails from people basically saying "Shepard I heard you were alive! Here's what I've been up to since you were gone."

Ironically enough, before the Coup, when you first get to the Citadel after leaving Earth, is the best Udina writing in the whole trilogy. How much losing Earth and the Systems Alliance government affects him, his resolve to do what needs to be done to stop this apocalyptic threat (better late than never), is nice to see before he joins TIM in going Full ******.

My bog standard Paragon Adept Shepard. For the first time ever decided to do a full good boy playthrough without doing anything evil. Even saved the Council, even though those buggers had it coming. Never saved them before, going to import my save file to ME2 to see the consequences.

FYI for anyone playing the LE and using the Community Patch, this is a list of mods incompatible with the current version of said patch:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... id=0#gid=0

Was getting really weird bugs. Hopefully I've found the source.

I was about to install the community patch before starting my playthrough, but then noticed that it was updated in 2025 (very recently). Checked the comment section on Nexusmods, and a bunch of people were complaining about new bugs that were introduced by this patch - npc not showing up during cutscenes, etc. Had to play the pure version.

Hm, these bugs aren't game-breaking, yet. It gets bad enough though, I'll just play through vanilla style. I can finish the main quest in about 8hrs if it comes down to it anyhow.

Why does Noveria's hanoi tower puzzle plays some out of place James-Bond-esque musical sting after you solve it? Don't think this sound effect plays anywhere else in the game.

Found a gamebreaking/crashing one. **** it, just gonna play Vanilla LE1 until this Community Patch gets updated again to fix this ****. Not all mods rely on it, but enough of them do that it's not worth figuring it out. Vanilla restart! Let's try this again.

God, that would take forever backdating every mod that updated along with it. Apparently this Community Patch 2.0 was a 'Framework Update'. That sounds like more than just another bugfix, so I'd have to backport every other dependent mod for the time being...

Alright, if I do this and I find even a SINGLE thing out of place, I'm playing Vanilla.

Holy ****, yeah, the '2.0' turned the Community Patch into a 'Framework' that makes other mods not originally dependent on it, now depend on it. And at least 2 mods so far have made the old versions unavailable for download. ******* assholes. Guess I'm just not using those mods then, "just update bro" not if the update is ******* BROKEN you condescending prick!

It might've played during some side quest. Maybe when disabling the proto-EDI on the Moon or during some other even more obscure side mission.

Alright, backported everything that could be, games running fine, none of the bugs I had before. Made 1 tiny switch to my Shepard for this new Playthrough, he's Ruthless instead of Sole Survivor.

Hearing Marina Sirtis voice a villain was disconcerting.
