Anyone going to try out Hytale?
It releases early access Jan 18 but will cost $18



The gameplay doesn't look as great as I thought it would be.
Some leaks I saw several years ago made the game look amazing.
I don't know if there has been some downgrades or something?



I am never a huge fan of open world survival games.
Procedural generation is just incredibly overdone. It is boring and makes for a bland and lifeless world.
Combat looks similar to Skyrim imho (which isn't a bad thing).
PvP looks really ****.

I don't think it will be anything special.
Would be interesting to see if modders "port" their mods over from Minecraft.

The earlier gameplay vids made it look good.
But the newer vids are kind of... disappointing I guess.

I am curious about it just for the fact it's a Minecraft clone and even though I don't really play it now I used to be obsessed with it as a kid.

It has official mod support too.
Some of the bosses looked kinda of cool I guess but I think they were scripted in the trailers

If they released it years ago, I'd buy it to have a Minecraft online experience without a Microsoft account (I'm a long-time Linux autist), but I don't even play online anymore.

I bought the early access version for £17.

Apart from being greeted by a ****** in the character customizer, the game is actually kinda fun. I'm not even a huge fan of survival games, especially bocky ones.

I'm not very far into it but I've seen so many different types of creatures and monsters. I even found a golem type boss guarding a portal.

There's quite a lot of crop types you can make farms with, lots of furniture peices and block types to build with. Reminds me of a mix of terraria and Minecraft in terms of content.

That being said it's a bit buggy. My game crashed my entire pc earlier and when I rebooted I spawned back at spawn but all the items in my inventory dissapeared. Couldn't get them back.

There's a native Linux build as well.

So far I would recommend for anyone who's currently wondering whether they should give it a go or not. It's pretty fun.

Game is pretty good . Runs very smooth, looks great, and mod support lets players tailor their experience. Biomes and enemies are very cool so far.

I assuming it's just something the developers missed. You're not supposed to be able to move that fast I don't think? I've seen people move faster

The game is early access and the developers said there will be a lot of bugs. But tbh it's the least buggy early access game of recent years, I've barely had any issues. Most early access games these days are really bad.

Seeing the movement made me pass on the game. I wanted a quality MineCraft clone without Microsoft, not whatever the **** this is.

This video is a bit misleading. The dagger weapon, when M1 is held down/charged up for a heavy attack, gives your character a small charge ahead. When well-timed with a jump, you can perform a sort of "bunny-hop" to jump farther than a normal sprint+jump... In addition to that, the player is also using a fisheye lense to make their **** look bigger than it actually is make the terrain speed by faster than it normally would appear.

Don't get me wrong, the game has issues, but I appreciate more freedom of movement options than fewer.

Not a big fan of the animations specifically the first person weapon attacks. They look almost identical to the attack animations of a few popular Skyrim mods I know. Also the game has been shilled routinely on /v/ the last few days so that also puts me off because we all know /v/ has **** taste.

hmm I'm sure I've seen that exact attack animation before (but without the flashy ********). Dark Messiah Might & Magic, maybe?
