Mass Effect

What starts as a routine mission to an agrarian outpost quickly becomes the opening salvo in an epic war. As the newly appointed Executive Officer of the SSV Normandy, you'll assemble and lead an elite squad of heroes into battle after heart-pounding battle. Each decision you make will impact not only your fate, but the destiny of the entire galaxy in the Mass Effect trilogy. Key Features: Incredible, interactive storytelling. Create and customize your own character, from Commander Shepard's appearance and skills to a personalized arsenal. Unleash devastating abilities as you command and train. Your decisions will control the outcome of each mission, your relationships with your crew and ultimately the entire war. An amazing universe to explore. From the massive Citadel to the harsh, radioactive landscape of the Krogan home world – the incredible breadth of the Mass Effect universe will blow you away. Travel to the farthest outposts aboard the SSV Normandy, the most technologically advanced ship in the galaxy. You'll follow the clues left by ancient civilizations, discover hidden bases with fantastic new tech and lead your hand-picked crew into explosive alien battles. Edge-of-your-seat excitement meets strategic combat. Find the perfect combination of squad-mates and weapons for each battle if you want to lead them to victory. Sun-Tzu's advice remains as pertinent in 2183 as it is today – know your enemy. You'll need different tactics for a squad of enemies with devastating biotic attacks than a heavily armored Geth Colossus so choose your teams wisely.
Where to acquire

the full trilogy is like $8 until the fifth

FYI if Two Worlds II wins, I'd suggest not buying it. Also, the DLC(released years later) is awful in multiple ways, including unfinished.

Hello. Am I still permitted to nominate a game? I took the day to think about it.

If I'm allowed, I'd like to nominate Lords of Xulima.

Mass Effect is a lame choice IMO because everyone and their mother has already played it. So a bunch of people will just post an old screenshot or a screenshot of their achievement. This will also cause too many nominations on the next poll.

Edit: I just finished a playthrough a couple weeks ago, so it's okay if I do it.

I've never finished Mass Effect 1. Currently have a campaign started so I'll just continue where I left off. The shooting and car sections are dreadful. That's pretty much all I remember. Oh, and that the legendary edition is like a 100gigs. Truth be told this sounds like a classy way to start 2026.

Although this is really more because every other option is infinitely worse.

Yes, it means we can start trying to figure out how to convince people to join our side and vote our way early.

EDIT: But who cares what poo poo pee pee man has to say about anything.

I've never played any of the Darksiders games yet, but I've always heard that Darksiders 2 is by far the best of the trilogy. So it would be a waste that everyone had to sit through Darksiders 1 without getting the proper payoff.

Let's go Mass Effect! I might wait to start a new Trilogy Playthrough until this vote goes through. Might play a Default Appearance (Never done defaultlook before) John Shepard.
Maybe Soldier for shits and giggles. I played it one whole time and it was surprisingly (to me at the time) effective.
Skyrim Belongs to the Nords.
Geek the Mage first.

Since people are talking about Mass Effect and I like sharing this, here is how I would recommend to build a character for Mass Effect 1. An infiltrator that focuses on pistols. It's inspired by a Jack Bauer door-breach style of play. You open with Overload/Damping/Sabatage skills as you charge the enemy, then pop the pistol skill to mop up anything that survived the barrage of explosions. Much more satisfying than sticking to cover and relying on the sniper rifle. It's also not a playstyle that carried over into Mass Effect 2/3.

(The game is easy enough that you could put your points anywhere and finish it, this is a recommendation to make the combat more fun.)

@Darkestfantasy is a Mass Effect mod expert. I think if I were to ever replay the series, I'd like to heavily mod it.

Anyway, here's how Two Worlds II can still win:

I would recommend this:

Code: Select all

https://www.nexusmods.com/masseffect/mods/83

Heavy graphics update doing better job than the whole remasters.

You can delete the language files and clear up a decent chunk of space. For me it was like 20 gigs I think. There's also a mod (a bat file technically) on the nexus that you can run that will delete them all quickly for you. Here's the link if you're interested:

2010 is closer to the original Fallout than it is now.

I'm in a mood of playing eurojank now so I might try both TW games though, just finished Wildlife Park 1 (the eurojank version of Zoo Tycoon) and want some more janky ****.

Why are you anchoring on 2010? Mass Effect was 2007.

Aside: The lighting in the original PC port was better than in the remaster, but there is a very legitimate reason for modding it or playing legendary edition: the max resolution would otherwise be 1080p.

Now I'm interested what kinds of mods Mass Effect has. Are they quality of life and graphics mostly or is there some new content as well?

Are there any good mods for new companions and quests?
