Looking at the options, this is one possibility. I haven't looked a single thing up, just going thematically to my liking. I'm guessing 'fishing' and the fish caught can be used for cooking. Can't make "Classix" as a name, has "***" in it I guess so it's not allowed...

Brother and I got around to trying this out for about 3 hours yesterday. Paladin and Cleric. Just checking out the starter area selling some stuff to vendors and seeing where vendor npc's and such were. Saved some Beetle carapaces and parts assuming those can be used to make armor by a crafter as we seen a few people wearing green shell armor. Will probably be wipes but we stored some stuff anyway just for inventory space. Might play some more today before he heads home.

The carapaces can be turned in to Hult, in the Sojourner camp, for a full set of beetle armor. Good starter set but farming up enough carapaces will probably make you outlevel it by the time you're done

I think the carapaces are sold pretty cheap by players, be on the lookout in /ooc and /auction.

Ping me the next time you guys log in and I'll join you. My Shaman can at least buff you guys and I have a level 1 Shadowknight sitting around waiting for me to pick it up. Or maybe I'll make a Monk!

Yeah we went to Hult at his hut with the beetle parts on tables and the barrels but he had nothing to say for us when 'hailed'. We were trying to farm up enough coin for some bags before we had to call it a night on there as we went over to a family friends house and never got around to firing it up Sunday again before he left. We were rune cubing and messing around on D2 for a bit before he headed home early as the weather was starting to get bad. Work truck is in for repairs today, leak in fuel line so I just took the day off ( on call for smaller stuff that can be done in personal vehicle ) Nothing so far. Not sure what your schedule is like, might hop on at some point before the test is over just to explore or something. LP game is played and halfway through the action writeup already for today's post so maybe we can get in-game at some point in the next 2 days.

@Kalarion Sorry I couldn't catch you on the stress test thing man, remind me of the next one and we'll try to get in game. Brother and I enjoyed the charm of the game and look forward to getting back into it again when available. We'll try to figure out the gear and bag stuff at some point. Gotta get me some bags right away as I hoard stuff for everyone to use for later profession work on every game I play.

Don't sweat it. I didn't play nearly as much this period anyways, same reason (work, other stuff keeping me busy). The devs' current position is that there will be no more stress tests like this one—Early Access is supposed to officially start in December. So, we can play for real at that point

For bags I've got you covered, Tailoring is one of my skills so I can make 8-10 slot bags and 6 slot pouches, we'd just need to farm up the mats, relatively trivial.

Beauty buddy, feed me bags and you get all the gear you need. I'll have to make alts, probably lots for material storing when we get this going. Cheers my man : )

The answer to that will depend on a lot of different factors specific to you. While I didn't find it fun, there is def a group of people that do. I would say that if the game looks/sounds interesting to you and you have the time to dedicate to learning how things work you will prob enjoy it. Personally, I'm to the point where I don't see missing QoL features as "a return to form" or "old school". I see missing features as red flags and reasons why I won't enjoy my time with the game.

Additionally, as with most MMOs, you'll prob have a better time playing with a group of people who also are willing to put in time, as opposed to going in solo.

It's good if you like classic EQ. I'm worried that when it comes out I'm going to get bored quickly and not play long. I love classic EQ, but I've also put well over 10 years into it between playing live until Luclin and then years on P99. I don't feel like the game is quite doing enough different to pull me in. I wish they would have at least made the graphics a tiny bit better, like making the hands have fingers instead of just being blocks with fingers painted on them. EQ had stopped doing that by Kunark and had some fun animations on the hands of the Goblins there. I'm not even asking for detailed animations when drawing weapons or anything. I'd be fine with the hands remaining closed fists at all times. I just really hate the look of ham fists and did even back when that was all video cards could handle.

Is it enough content to justify paying a subscription while it's in early access?

I don't know yet, my gut feeling is yes but it's not like I've gotten very far (my highest level char, now wiped, was like level 18). I enjoy it enough that I'm willing to shell out the money to scout the terrain for you. Give me a month or two after EA launches and I'll report back.

I might join the start of beta though (is there a condition to get in?) so I can play with some classes a bit to get the feel for what I want come EA release. I don't want to fall behind come EA by changing characters, I hate playing catchup and I know that will be the case as I toy with figuring that out.

My suspicion is that a lot of the stuff that would be part of a beta has already been tested out by the constant playtests. Things like load testing servers, fleshing out dev/admin tools and player uis, getting metrics ingestion set up, initial wave of content generation.

So this beta will be true, 1-60 testing with most of the content already in place.
