That and the longterm sales tell usually more. If people dont even want the finished game with all dlcs at a discount, it wasnt well enough received. And the follow up game will probably also sell less. Maybe not like The Last Jedi > Solo drop off but enough if they dont scale down the costs and scale of their next game to not break even.TND wrote: β November 14th, 2025, 14:43Basic mathematics dictates that the game is a flop, 40x4 million is 160 million and that's me being generous with the money they get from each sale not counting that the game is basically half off in china plus disk sales plus 30% cut that Xbox and playstation take and some other ******** I forgot to mention.

There's just no end to these sad copes. Enough with it already. Man up and admit you were wrong. You can **** on the game for some of its woke elements until the day you die, but insisting that 4 million copies sold in 9 months is a flop makes you look mentally ill, and KCD2 also has much better reception than KCD1. Your autistic screeching has had zero effect on the sales or the game's reception. Just like I told you it wouldn't months ago, before the game released.
funny that you play the enlightened one and boast with steam reviews. Which can be bought, botted, deleted etc. all is possible these days and has already happened.Hyborian wrote: β November 14th, 2025, 16:46

Do you honestly believe that? Of course you don't. Stop lying to yourself with these ridiculous copes and accept the facts. Your impotent boycott failed and KCD2 is objectively successful.Vaako wrote: β November 14th, 2025, 17:34funny that you play the enlightened one and boast with steam reviews. KCD 2 is historical fiction. Mods don't address the majority of its issues and the ones that do aren't particularly well done.campersinc wrote: β November 15th, 2025, 09:03The most popular mod on this site is for BG3, an amazing yet far more progressive and political game than KCD2. dumbI've had so many debates with people who place KCD on this pedestal of based gaming - and yet, when it released in 2018 they trashed it, called it Euro-jank, and only bought it later for $2 on a Steam sale to virtue signal (and never played more than 5min). Same with the "based reviewers" on Youtube. They all **** on KCD back in 2018, while rubbing one out to From Software's latest release.
Personally, I found that the story was bloated and worse and the world and characters were less interesting. Splitting the game into two maps was a poor design choice since the second map was too big for the amount of content in it. The first game had a map that was big enough to wander around and enjoy while also being small enough that you could memorize the major roadways and landmarks and know where you were approximately without looking at the map. I also felt like this game did very little to force you to hunt or make use of most of the survival aspects and it also didn't do as much as the first game to feel like you're developing Henry's character to anywhere near the degree of teaching him to read and fight. Nothing felt nearly as impactful as the first game. Sure, I'll agree that most of the systems that carried over were better executed and polished and the game looked better overall, but that's a low bar for a game that essentially is using the same engine and took like 5 years to develop.Oyster Sauce wrote: β November 15th, 2025, 09:14KCD 2 is historical fiction. KCD1's budget was way lower and was built from the ground up. KCD2 already had all of the main game mechanics developed (they hardly added anything completely new) and had a way larger budget. They used that to create an insanely bloated script (remember that picture of the guy standing next to the thousands of pages?), generating hype, and I really don't know what else.

Seems like every developer is melting down because they lost to a studio with like 15 employees.
Good.

What? You mean you can make a game that isn't bloated to the brim with unnecessary employees? I was told that studios today need at least 1000 HR ladies just to be successful. On a serious note, look who are the ones who are really mad at Expedition 33's success. A lot of it is female game devs that only got into this industry due to GamerGate and #MeToo. The gravy train is about to come to an end and they know it. Money talks and these ******* cost too much money to keep around. If you can make a game that sell 10 million copies with only 15 employees studios will go back to that model instead wasting money on female game devs who do nothing but sit around and doomscroll TikTok all day.rusty_shackleford wrote: β December 15th, 2025, 00:06Seems like every developer is melting down because they lost to a studio with like 15 employees.

Wolf in sheep's clothes. It's a shame because historic RPGs that take place in the real world without magic and all that are a cool concept and great niche. Now the one developer that makes such games has lost all trust. Then again, I'm sure the Reddit crowd will continue eating up whatever Warhorse sells them.

Where did you get these stats from?
Just asking because it's pretty common for publishers to inflate their sale statistics for investor and markering purposes.

Warhorse reports it, but how could you verify it any other way? The game hasn't been cheaper than $27ish (for standard) in the US at least. So it's not like KCD1 that mostly sold at bargain prices. The US accounts for 24% of sales and China accounts for 21%.
It's hard to argue that the game isn't successful overall. The Steam achievement ratio for completion is somewhere around 30% too, pretty much on par with most similar games.
