No RPG elements? It probably goes here!

Having a redditor trapped in your head slowly taking over your body is a punishment worse than anything in the bible
How is Silverhand a redditor? Sure, he was a degenerate ****** and a bad friend when he was alive, but if you abstract away his character and focus on his opinions, he is completely accurate in his evaluation of both the Arasaka and the NUSA government. No redditor would have the balls to fedpost as much as Silverhand. It's also made pretty clear in the game that his opposition to Arasaka isn't him sperging about capitalism or being a Marxist.

Keanu Reeves is a bad ******* actor, though, and was only brought in for the sake of marketing and for reddit chungus points. I got used to him after a while, but that casting decision was absolutely atrocious.
nihilism/sarcasm and anti capitalist messaging is pretty high on the list for redditors. But then they shill for companies like nintendo.

I don't remember him ever being against capitalism, but I could be misremembering. I think that his opposition to Arasaka was about them being corrupt, having unchecked power that they constantly abuse and having zero regard for humanity. As for nihilism, I don't think so either. I didn't detect any "nothing matters, nothing means anything and there is nothing we can do" mentality from him. Sure, he is obviously not a Christian (neither am I), but he isn't a redditor atheist or a nihilist.

As for my pick for the most insufferable character, I think it's hard to top Claptrap, but I will nominate a character from a game that nobody probably played except me (and you shouldn't because it's trash) Charlie from Quantum Break. I don't remember seeing a bigger **** in fiction. Maybe Thomas Shelby from Peaky Blinders or Nucky Thompson from Boardwalk Empire could compete, but those aren't video games. I don't really follow modern media much.

Just remembered, if you played through Sinnerman, Silverhand doesn't do any fedora-tipping about Christianity and behaves very restrained and respectful, I'd say. I think the big part of Silverhand's character is that he respects authenticity.

I never finished Cyberpunk so take this with a grain of salt. But on the surface level most redditors want to be revolutionists but also dont have a plan what comes after or if it will be worse. They are also badly informed about history, politics and take most their knowledge from bad pop culture or video games. I dont assume Silverhand had a plan what comes after Araska was defeated? Whats left would probably just get absorbed by the next big company.

You are right, he doesn't and most of his beliefs are probably a consequence of being disillusioned with society after his experiences in the military and watching everything around him go to ****. He is stuck in the "We have to **** up people that are making the world worse, because they have names and addresses" phase, but he doesn't really have or propose any positive vision for how society has to be organized past that nor does he have any idea how to improve the world in a systematic fashion rather than selectively ******* people up. I'm not saying that Silverhand is a perfect human being, but he is not a bad character and he is not a **** or a redditor.

As for having a clear positive vision, I don't have one either. I just know that if tomorrow I woke up as Homelander, I would be a thousand times worse than him. He is extremely patient and mentally stable compared to how I would act with his powers.

Another vote for Navi from Zelda.
Lynette from Fallout 2, but she was supposed to be annoying.
From more recent games, that elf mage from Pillars of Eternity who has multiple personlities, also the nigress from the same game who rogay used as avatar back then.
Almost every character in Divinity: Original Sin, except the Cheese Vendor and maaybe the Talking Clam.
Niko from GTA4.
What else?

That's almost all of them, too. I include Kid's accent as an impediment.

If a character didn't make you stop playing the game, he's not a contender for the title. Quit Dishonoured 2 in less than an hour because Corvo was unbearable.

Claptrap wasn't that bad. He was intentionally annoying, but only shows up for a minute or less for every hour of gameplay, on average.

If they ever make a sequel* to Borderlands, maybe they'll end up overusing him and making him insufferable as a result.

Geralt of Rivia.

Dishonorable mentions:
Alistair from DA:O
Preston Garvey from FO4

There's more I could think of but this will do for now.

Steve because he keeps shoe-horning his homosexual ******** into the story and James because he's an annoying ****
and when they start talking to eachother it's like whenever mexicans get together and they start spiccing things up like a couple of cholos

Same voice actor as the Iron Bull from Inquisition. Same character, unsurprisingly. A non-offensive and very progressive pseudo-intellectual meathead.

It is a low hanging fruit, however, I played Dragon Age Veilguard.

The game is a fever nightmare of quirky chunguses. An assassin literally won't shut up about coffee, but he isn't even autistic, just quirky chungus. Everyone is quirky chungus. And you can't kill them. True suffering.

Funny enough Freddie Prinze did it a third time in an episode of Psych. He played a jock who hid his nerd interests from his trophy wife.

Too many to name.
Near every racial minority character in modern games.
Every sexual minority character in modern games.
Every dykish hairbob feminist woman character.
Every girlboss character which has overlap with the above.
Feminine male characters.
I like sugar, and I like tea.

I prefer to kill him once so he never talks to anyone again.
