Steam winter sale 2025

Post by rusty_shackleford »

Did ya buy anything, son?

Outcast remaster for a buck fitty

Ash of Gods: Redemption also very cheap

It had a combat revamp patch not too long ago. I recommended it before that with the caveat that the combat is poorly designed, I haven't played it post-update. I liked the story.

Yea but you can just pirate it instead of giving God knows who owns the IP your money

[edit]
Apparently it's owned by the original devs so I take it back

current day TopWare may as well be just an empty husk, with all of the former devs left or retired.

I got BG3 and the two new turn based Yakuza games. Probably going to try BG3 first and see what all the fuss is about.

Hard pass on anything with this in it.

You may as well not bother replying to my posts if it's to argue anything except concrete facts or your personal opinion. I still probably won't see it.

It doesn't have CCG elements, I don't know why they advertise that.
They're basically just items you can use during combat

There's nothing new even worth downloading. New games follow idiotic design principles invented by people who never made a good game.

I got Sniper Elite 5.

► Show Spoiler
Good sniper gameplay, some emergent behavior, and nice graphics.
Gotta shoot Wehrmacht and SS troops, but whatever.

I'm eyeing both. The first one seems reasonably priced, whereas the second seems less so.
(Why aren't they in a bundle?)

I might as well add the Archmage pack, even with the anemic discount.

Off topic, but I've perused some of the other games storefronts, but Steam is so far ahead as regards user experience and presentation.

I like the first game but I suspect the second one has more fans. The reason it costs so much is because it's made by a French guy that subsist entirely on homegrown tubers (this is an actual paraphrasing) and therefore he cannot afford to expend calories on things like thinking about economics.
Anyways, second game is a brootaly tough game that requires heavy theorycraftin', if you're into that.

The best thing by far about KOTC2 is the Harkenwold mod by our very own @Dorateen. If you like a big campaign world that's been added onto for years, it's worth checking out. And it doesn't have the feeling of arbitrary difficulty Pierre's base game has.

Thanks for the info, @Acrux , @rusty_shackleford .

What I gather is that
  • Augury of Chaos is just one of planned official modules for KoTC 2. There are two more to come.
  • Hearkenwold is a better paced module that is still being updated and added to.
Has he made a roadmap for the upcoming modules, and their prices?

To be honest, I want to try Darth Roxor's DoWpak over on the Codex.

There is still a forthcoming trilogy of modules for KotC2 starting with the Dark Arena. It's supposed to be more open ended than Augury of Chaos, with the party fighting their way out of a gladiator arena, similar to Dark Sun. I have no idea about a pricing roadmap, but Pierre's brand of entertainment doesn't come cheap.

A few years ago I uploaded this video of a battle in Hearkenwold, which uses the voice set from Roxxor's DoW pack. Because Christmas is a time for saving the world and fighting vampires.

Ah, I was watching one of your videos the other day and heard a character say "eliminate the xeno" or something like that and wondered where you got that voice from. :)

Was looking at this too, seeing the heaps of praise it has received in some quarters. I enjoyed Wizardry 6 and 7.
Unfortunately, getting it to run on Linux appears to be somewhat hard. (There are various reports of mouse lagging.)

I posted a fix for this somewhere when I played it, but iirc it involved installing dmusic(or perhaps directmusic) via winetricks
