Addressing the RPG fantasy bias

Post by rusty_shackleford »

I saw this while scrolling thru Steam

The bias towards labeling anything with a fantasy theme as 'RPG' is really annoying. Take any game that borders on being an RPG but clearly isn't(e.g., nu-XCOM) and make it a fantasy game(Dorkest Dungeon, Battle Brothers, and so on), and suddenly it's an RPG with zero changes.

This really steams my beans.
That's all.

:fishing: Cyberpunk 2077 and Avowed are even less RPG-focused than The Witcher 3—and not even close.

Well, at least I’d like to think that Cyberpunk 2077 and Avowed can proudly say we’ve bested Bloodlines 2 :old2:
2077 has more meaningful skill allocation, upgrades, and C&C
