Hot female characters in gaming are the equivalent of those old WW2 pinup posters. The industry is where it is because of **** and women being put into positions of power.rusty_shackleford wrote: β December 12th, 2025, 19:13Coomers enabled the current state of the industry then got upset when the rug got pulled out from under them

The increasing managerialism in these devs/publishers, as a result of games becoming too successful and mainstream. It's no wonder that the sexy women were the first things to get the axe as a result.rusty_shackleford wrote: β December 12th, 2025, 19:17and who do you think enabled women being put into those positions of power?KnightoftheWind wrote: β December 12th, 2025, 19:15Hot female characters in gaming are the equivalent of those old WW2 pinup posters. I'm pretty sure it's well known that the devs decided on a character like Lara because they thought players would rather stare at a hot woman's *** than a guys'. It was the very early days of 3D gaming, after all.rusty_shackleford wrote: β December 12th, 2025, 19:20are you even aware that lara croft was intended to be a feminist icon from the start?KnightoftheWind wrote: β December 12th, 2025, 19:19The increasing managerialism in these devs/publishers, as a result of games becoming too successful and mainstream. https://www.gamedeveloper.com/design/in ... -toby-gardLara Croft was made by a male feminist to increase female representation in gaming. It was never the intention to create some kind of 'page 3' girl to star in Tomb Raider. The idea was to create a female character who was a heroine, you know, cool, collected, in control, that sort of thing. The problem with those other games is that the female characters are actually there for purely exploitative purposes. I know you could argue that Lara with her comic book style over-the top figure is exploitative, but I don't agree. I think it's ridiculous to say that portraying stylised people is degrading. You can represent an over the top hero figure by augmenting characteristics like a jutting jaw, wide shoulders, thin waist etc. and that is not degrading to men. It may well be a stereotype, but it seems to me that people are overanalysing this whole thing. It's pretty simple, if women in a game are only there to be the equivalent of quiz show floozies then they are being portrayed in a sexist way.

Meh, it seems there are different reasons as to why Lara is the way she is. Either way, that's not how gamers viewed the character, and it's not the reason why the industry is a DEI shithole today. The games were still made by talented men, for male players to enjoy.rusty_shackleford wrote: β December 12th, 2025, 19:23KnightoftheWind wrote: β December 12th, 2025, 19:23I'm pretty sure it's well known that the devs decided on a character like Lara because they thought players would rather stare at a hot woman's *** than a guys'. Do you have any idea how many young autistic men trooned out because of Lara Croft? Again with this *********?. If anyone ****** out to Lara, they'd ***** out for 90% of female characters in games too. Or any attractive woman in real-life for that matter. ****** are ******, it's how they are.Stack of Turtles wrote: β December 12th, 2025, 19:29Do you have any idea how many young autistic men trooned out because of Lara Croft? You really can't say if that was his honest intentions though, he was probably saying **** like that to avoid stating the obvious "Oh we did it because we wanted a hot girl" etc etc. The 90s was just as liberal as today, make no mistake, so you kinda had to mask some of this stuff under the guise of "girl power" and all that. Especially in Britbongland.rusty_shackleford wrote: β December 12th, 2025, 19:29That's him openly admitting they were using sex appeal to insert feminism into gaming and coomers were enabling it because COOOOOMMMKnightoftheWind wrote: β December 12th, 2025, 19:27Meh, it seems there are different reasons as to why Lara is the way she is. They specifically ***** out to girlbosses because they listen to too much feminism and think the only way they can become socially competent and successful is becoming a woman.KnightoftheWind wrote: β December 12th, 2025, 19:31Again with this *********?. Classic Lara was just a calm, cool adventurer who hunted for treasure because she felt like it. Not really a whole lot for someone to ***** out to, unless they were severely mentally ill to begin with.Stack of Turtles wrote: β December 12th, 2025, 19:36They specifically ***** out to girlbosses because they listen to too much feminism and think the only way they can become socially competent and successful is becoming a woman.KnightoftheWind wrote: β December 12th, 2025, 19:31Again with this *********?. Yeah, that's... that's how it works, they ***** out because they think they can become calm and cool if they become women instead of the raging sperg tards they are nowKnightoftheWind wrote: β December 12th, 2025, 19:42Classic Lara was just a calm, cool adventurer who hunted for treasure because she felt like it. To be honest, I don't feel the woke censorship here. The breasts are smaller for the sake of a "realistic" design. On the other hand, I am firmly against changing the visual style of the original models in favor of "realism" or anything else.
I like the idea of Gamma more than I liked what little I played of it. It very much came off as something you can't just willy-nilly jump into without really getting to know the systems, binds, and having the time to dedicate to it.
Yea, I agree with you there. It does help if you've gotten deep into Anomoly. Like built your guns from spare parts, cooked, ect. At least it did for me.Rienen wrote: β December 12th, 2025, 20:56I like the idea of Gamma more than I liked what little I played of it. If you enjoy post apocalypse games, I can highly recommend Stalker Anomaly. Gamma is just anomoly +. Heck, you can have a great time just doing hunting missions in the Garbage. Just you, a shotgun loaded with buckshot, and the mutants. Its actually a decent way to make money in game.
I love STALKER Gamma. It combines everything into a fairly straight forward package and I've rarely encountered many issues beyond the typical bugs with the engine like busy hands. The completely random **** that can happen is hilarious and makes every jump back in unique.
The last time I played, I ended up being forced to turn off the Brain Scorcher in the middle of the night, which was a ******* nightmare. I had Monolith flanking me in the pitch black with only limited night vision to cover my ***. My game crashed at least three times. They also ended up bum rushing me in waves as I crept up the hill, which meant the base itself was **** near empty when I finally arrived. One of the most brutal experiences I've had.
