I'm just stating the facts.

Erm actually that's JANOS AUDRON'S sanctuary. Vorador's mansion is an awful level in Defiance!Jordy wrote: β December 7th, 2025, 10:26Running through Vorador's Fortress with your talon's clacking on the icy floor was very satisfying.
This thing honestly looked and sounded like a big piece of ****. Apparently the developers had to fight just to be allowed to reference Raziel and Kain but they still couldn't actually use them as characters. It was going to be set in an alternate universe where the original ending of SR1 happened as well.Jordy wrote: β December 7th, 2025, 10:38Footage of the LoK reboot they were making but got canceled.

ffs - I did correct this as I was typing but must have hit ctrl z at some point.Vergil wrote: β December 7th, 2025, 19:10Erm actually that's JANOS AUDRON'S sanctuary. I meant to put Janos Audron's Retreat.
I remember hating everything about it at the time and I'm glad it didn't happen but looking back at it now, I can see what they were trying to do with the restrictions they had. There are points in the video I can see where they tried to keep to the spirit of the series.Vergil wrote: β December 7th, 2025, 19:10This thing honestly looked and sounded like a big piece of ****. I'm well beyond the point where I don't want anything I've ever liked being rebooted/remade.

Indeed. Sometimes it's better things stay dead.rusty_shackleford wrote: β December 7th, 2025, 05:13It would have been really badFitz wrote: β December 7th, 2025, 05:08On the topic of resurrecting this franchise it seem unlikely. The soulreaver remasters were done really well because they were primarily the work of someone who spent a decade modding the game.

It was a surprise, but the work is solid.Vergil wrote: β December 7th, 2025, 23:46On the flip side though that person is a woman.J1M wrote: β December 7th, 2025, 23:45The soulreaver remasters were done be really well because they were primarily the work of someone who spent a decade modding the game.
Blood Omen 1 is a rough game. I'm assuming it was the first Playstation 1 game for Silicon Knights, and thus has stiff looking sprites and the controls can feel sluggish. It deserves a lot of praise for the game design, however.
It does an outstanding job of introducing new items and other elements without tutorial popups or a character reciting the lead designer's notes from a playtest session. The designers crafted situations where you feel the need for a certain item, such as a ranged attack, and then after muddling through without it, they hand it out. When you get that new capability you immediately understand the value of why you want want the item and it feels like a nice reward.
Then instead of a tutorial, they give you a similar situation to the one you just experienced except now you have the right tool to breeze through it. It gives a similar sensation to what players often say they like about RPGs when revisiting a low level area as a high level character, except it is via horizontal expansion of capabilities instead of vertical power gain. Unlike a standard RPG, this is a sensation that can be repeated for most of the new items you are introduced to instead of just once at the end of the game.
I also liked that there were multiple weapon/armor combos that seemed good near the end of the game but with wildly different tradeoffs.

Was not aware @Lancaster has a BG3 mod that makes the narrator Mortanius.
I associate Tony Jay more with the Elder God (yuck!) so I wouldn't use this but it's amusing to see now that I'm familiar with the games.

And that's a good thing. I don't want another franchise which I enjoy get infested with *******, *******, pajeets etc. Nosgoth was prestigious white and it should stay this way.Fitz wrote: β December 7th, 2025, 05:08On the topic of resurrecting this franchise it seem unlikely. A gurl I knew was stupidly into this series, so much so that she tried to make us play a dnd tabletop adaptation of it. It lasted all of about two weeks.
