Finished Dispatch, dunno what possessed me tbh other then a desire to waste money even though it's sales and plenty of stuff to buy.
But since i did it, can give my 2 cents on it.

It's...ok.
I really didn't like the dialogue, as plenty of others said, its very repetitive haha peepeepoopoo type of humor over and over. It actually made me seriously dislike invisigal because she was one of the worst offenders of it.
Also yes, massive emphasis on penises, did gay people write this? Turn off nudity, there's just 2 scenes of invisigals boobs and it's not worth it.

But i did actually like the dispatch mechanic, so it's the telltale like game with the best "gameplay", although how much of that actually matters i don't know. The hacking minigame sucked balls though, pure time waster and shame you can't disable it like qtes.

Still, for my tastes, the best of the telltale genre is Tales from the Borderlands and I guess the first 2 Walking dead (in terms of mechanics its probably the worst but well, the story was effective). Dispatch would be fighting for 3rd place.
And yes it is very pozzed, the diversity stuff is obvious.

Been playing Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem. An excellent survival horror title for the 'Cube which boasted a ton of innovations for the genre, including it's infamous "sanity" mechanic, that were simply never iterated on or repeated again. The game has a lot of charm and excellent atmosphere, with a very Lovecraftian plot of course. The story isn't deep, but entertaining enough, and the idea of playing as multiple characters across history is novel. It certainly gives the game a great sense of scale which no other title in the genre has.

It was one of a handful of quality games Silicon Knights ever made before going bankrupt, and I wonder what could have been if they had released this game on all platforms at the time, and if it were successful enough to guarantee a trilogy and the devs' continued existence to this day. Alas, any developer who partnered with Nintendo back then paid dearly, even the likes of Capcom. The CEO of Nightdive stated that Eternal Darkness is near the top of his list when it comes to remasters, and if the stars align and Nintendo agrees to sell the rights then that would be awesome. The game deserves a wider audience.
Bro, I played this recently too! I was initially let down by it (after hearing so many great things), but the more I thought about it after beating it, the more I realised its excellence. A remaster/remake would be sweet. Heck, if they could do what Capcom did with RE2 Remake that would be sick.
I hate them.

Happy Thanskgiving!

Reporting on my latest attempt at Dark Souls, which took about 14 hours.

My previous Prepare to Die run ended more than 80 days ago at the Capra Demon, which is a broken boss that resulted in my becoming disgusted and uninstalling.

This time I was able to run Remastered (couldn't make it work previously) and the Capra Demon was a breeze. The twist is that it was nerfed between Prepare to Die and Remastered. Less poise damage, less damage on hit, and the dogs are delayed by ~10 s. So now I understand why people suggested I git gud.

I got to Blight Town in one direction and the Tomb of Giants (?) in another, and then uninstalled again.

Here is the problem: many of the level designs feel like you are exploring a butthole. Anor Londo looks pretty on Youtube, and the Undead Burg and Cathedral were OK. But many other levels are dismally unattractive and tortuous: catacombs, depths; and blight town on this newest playthrough.

Dark Souls 2 had a much better artistic vision with regard to all environments; there is no ugly level in that game. The more oppressive ones are short, and not viscera-like mazes .Even the gutter and the spitting statue level below it did not overstay their welcome and had good artistic design.

Too much of time played was spent hanging in unsavory locations.

Verdict: 3/10 still. Massive drawbacks extinguish the value of the combat and the melancholy environments.
What would you say is the most visually appealing Souls game? Is it DS2 or Elden Ring?

I tried Captain back sometime after Moria. Kept him as an AoE farmer for the Barrows area around lvl 25 something with a Turtle trinket or something to stop XP gain to farm Barrow Treasures and Bones for rep stuff. Made a fuckin killing. Guardian is my favorite though for group stuff, years ago at least... Beorning solo and the odd dungeon was a blast. Haven't followed Lotro in awhile after that black/diversity character creation bs they came out with. I just liked the 'Smaug hoarding' aspect of Lotro. I'd build up **** tons of gold and just ask others trivia questions in towns or simply open trade and give it away for lower players with some perfect crafted items. I was gifted many items from some generous people out of nowhere so I did the same in return when the coffers were overflowing. Wish you well on there whatever it is you're doing. Good deeds and intentions pay off my man. Fight hard buddy. : )

It's pretty good. Going into it blind and trying to solve all the puzzles without looking up any guides is fun. A lot of reactivity.
The mystery is nice, though the MASSIVE SPOILER physical explanation of the demons being just soundwaves kinda made them look lame in my mind.

Wanted to replay Assassin's Creed 4 Black Flag.
It's so poorly optimized that I had to do about 45 minutes of troubleshooting to fix micro-stutters and it still ran poorly.

Yeah, it's a ****** PC port. It doesn't really work with modern multi-core CPUs.

Finished The Faery Tale Adventure aka the proto-open world walking simulator. Lilura gave this **** 8.5 out of 10 but it's actually just plain terrible from combat, balancing, pacing to map design. This is pretty much the very first time that a game recommended by Lilura turned out to be terrible and I'm not sure if I can just blindly trust xir anymore. Literally the only saving grace of this trash is muh open world in 1986, but it's nothing worthwhile unless you are on the spectrum and is into grandpa techs likes how Lilura does.

I also find out that this game does have a sequel, Halls of the Dead. It looks much better than the first one, but from what I've gathered, it's unfinished and mediocre at best. Plus it's genuinely SNCA (even more obscure than both Betrayal in Antara and Perihelion!) so I think I'll just pass.

There's very few games worth playing before ~1993. Mostly just cool historical stuff.

If you're looking for a game from dinosaur era worth playing tho, try Starflight. IIRC, I preferred the Amiga version, can't remember why right now.

Amiga is the best "old" version. The Genesis one is worth playing though.

I think there are less differences between the Genesis version of FTA and the Amiga release.

I still play nes platformer/shooter classics like Contra and Megaman occasionally these days but yeah, most of the archaic RPGs don't really feel worth playing, the only exception so far is Uncharted Water but even that can be repetitive after a while.

Try setting up your own private singleplayer server, which is exactly what I always do these days. The modern MMORPG community is plagued with filthy minmaxxers so it's better for you to play offline anyway. I can't honestly enjoy MMORPGs anymore because of this ****** of a culture, even private servers of classic Maplestory, a supposedly comfy social game for casual, tend to be filled with them instead of functioning neurotypicals like how it was back in the 2000s.

Ragezone should have resources for all the popular MMO games, many of those are packed in a way that I'm pretty certain even a karen can do it. Editing server is more complex but there should also be premade editors for that job.

Been playing Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem. An excellent survival horror title for the 'Cube which boasted a ton of innovations for the genre, including it's infamous "sanity" mechanic, that were simply never iterated on or repeated again.
Haunting Ground did it a few years later. The devs had a different take on the mechanic but I think it really fits the story. In the game the sanity meter is invisible and certain events or choices you make can drop it. If it gets too low then Fiona, the MC, will do things like freeze on the spot and be uncontrollable or she will take off in a continuous sprint that forces you to steer her like a runaway car. Anyways you should check it out if you haven't. It's a great horror game.
