Oh look finally a vanilla straight white couple that everyone loves!
Nope can't have that. Gambit is now an effeminate sub that has to be carried by the woman.

All variants of Rogue I'm familiar with (mostly cartoons!) have permanently absorbed Ms. Marvel's flight and super strength prior to entering a relationship with Gambit. You'll need to elaborate on your nitpicking.orinEsque wrote: ↑ November 28th, 2025, 17:06Its reminiscent of the term: Dommy mommy.GhostCow wrote: ↑ November 28th, 2025, 16:57I would hug my fiancée like this if she had super strength. EDIT: rogue doesn't have super strength, unless she recently stole it from someone.
Wait, she's just a generic superhero now? No, she still temporarily absorbs mutant powers. She just has a backstory justification for having super strength and flight so she doesn't die getting close enough to use the interesting ability.Oyster Sauce wrote: ↑ November 28th, 2025, 19:47Wait, she's just a generic superhero now? She still has the Ms. Marvel powers and her normal powers have been upgraded. I lost my love of superheroes when I realized that the "no killing" rule was there to brainwash people into accepting roaming hordes of foreigners raping and killing your children.

True. And Injustice (the one where Superman loses it after Joker blows up Metropolis & kills his pregnant wife) was a farce created to specifically demonize and belittle the concept of heroes taking matters into their own hands, instead of throwing criminals into the worthless "justice" system where they would just be let out to victimize more people, just as happens IRL. It starts out reasonable, but then Superman quickly starts killing his own friends for no reason beyond them objecting. As if to say, "Look NPCs, you must never be violent and never hold anyone to account for anything, if you don't do as we say then you'll literally be worse than Hitler! Look, even Superman turns evil in a heartbeat the second he questions the sacred authority of the govt!"logincrash wrote: ↑ November 29th, 2025, 07:29I lost my love of superheroes when I realized that the "no killing" rule was there to brainwash people into accepting roaming hordes of foreigners raping and killing your children.
Batman has blood of thousands on his hands because he wouldn't kill Joker. Punisher is only considered an anti-hero because today's social norms are perverted.
Killing murderers, rapists, drug dealers is a good thing, actually. Having some spandex-clad ****** waggle his finger at you for dispensing real justice is **** propaganda.
Superhero stories have to be that absurd though, otherwise there is literally no reason why Superman can't just eliminate every supervillain all on his own. Even if he doesn't do it the first time they offend, what about the second?, or third?, or fourth? How many times is Joker going to be locked up in Arkham, only to escape in another two weeks and kill a dozen more people? Not only does the death penalty not exist in these comic book worlds apparently, but superheroes think that locking a person up when there's no hope of them changing for the better is somehow "heroic".Tidus5 wrote: ↑ November 30th, 2025, 08:12True. The best part is the whole objection to it is pretty much a straight inversion of human justice for pretty much the entirety of human history up until very recently. We used to hang people in the street when they did ****** up ****. We did that for millennia, and it weeded out a lot of the more criminal trash element in society. But now that we let women and **** run everything of course doing that is too mean, you've gotta give pedo's, killers and rapists a 2nd, 3rd, 4th, or in the case of Iryna Zarutska's killer, a 14th chance to do better.
These stories work when they don't need to run for 50 continuous adventuring years. Hercules doesn't have 10,000 adventurers. A normal pro football career is about 15 years max. Batman and Spiderman have enough interesting villains that they could have a full career without constantly recycling characters. The issue is that Joker will sell more comics.KnightoftheWind wrote: ↑ November 30th, 2025, 10:41Superhero stories have to be that absurd though, otherwise there is literally no reason why Superman can't just eliminate every supervillain all on his own. I just want a proper superhero canon where villains are appropriately dispatched without relegating it to some alternate continuity or rebooting everything again in a year.
Invincible (the comic) does this. They just toss dangerous supervillains into space. It is full of mostly subversive disingenuous nonsense writing, though.KnightoftheWind wrote: ↑ November 30th, 2025, 10:41I just want a proper superhero canon where villains are appropriately dispatched without relegating it to some alternate continuity or rebooting everything again in a year.
So she has generic strength and flight powers, and she doesn't have to live a life of physical isolation to avoid hurting people? What's even the ******* point of the character then?GhostCow wrote: ↑ November 28th, 2025, 20:09She still has the Ms. Marvel powers and her normal powers have been upgraded. Villains are popular so they keep coming back even when they're killed, there's no political motive behind this. It's purely profit. Manchild-writer/editors decided to come up with rationalizations for it because nerds love to overexplain things.logincrash wrote: ↑ November 29th, 2025, 07:29I lost my love of superheroes when I realized that the "no killing" rule was there to brainwash people into accepting roaming hordes of foreigners raping and killing your children.
If you read any wikipedia entry about a comic book character, every single one has a list of times the ****** writers ran out of ideas, and decided to make characters more powerful or 'fix' their weaknesses.Havitner wrote: ↑ December 1st, 2025, 22:23So she has generic strength and flight powers, and she doesn't have to live a life of physical isolation to avoid hurting people?
