It's true, there's a wide catalogue of RPGs ... but like any "artistic" medium of human expression, 99% of it is ****. That said, most Codex refugees have already played the RPGs worth playing.junior wrote: β October 10th, 2023, 16:01***** attitude, unless you were gaming every day since early 90s you have more than a lifetime of games to enjoy
We have a Steam curator now. You should be following it. https://store.steampowered.com/curator/44994899-RPGHQ/
RPGs are dead
Japanese developers have sought to appeal more to Western markets, and the quality of their games has gone downhill as a result.SoLong wrote: β October 10th, 2023, 11:42Japanese RPGs tend to be resistant to some parts of the western woke blights: Ugly strong wamen are rare (and if they exist they are villains, fittingly enough), the ESG gender crap is left at the door and their society as a whole rejects the whole "You must accept this much brown people as invaders immigrants this year!" propaganda the US and Europe is swamped with.
I don't want developers in Asia to change their games in an effort to appeal to Western markets.
Wandering Sword is one of the best indie RPGs I've played in recent years and it was made by a Chinese developer. Without an ounce of care given for Western sensibilities.

Gregz only plays games when other people tell him to, he is incapable of thinking on his own(same reason he murders dogs)Gregz wrote: β October 11th, 2023, 01:50Thankfully you're not the arbiter of taste.rusty_shackleford wrote: β October 10th, 2023, 23:22I don't recall seeing you in the Shard of Spring thread. Nope. I believe in the power of crowdsourcing. I'm glad you guys are playing it. If I hear a big buzz, I might try it myself.rusty_shackleford wrote: β October 11th, 2023, 01:52Gregz only plays games when other people tell him to, he is incapable of thinking on his ownGregz wrote: β October 11th, 2023, 01:50Thankfully you're not the arbiter of taste.rusty_shackleford wrote: β October 10th, 2023, 23:22
