What game are you playing?
Finished Realms of the Haunting. Was actually pretty gud. Unironic FMV, janky movement, tricky puzzles. Real downer of an ending though.
Finish Loop Hero in about 7.5 hours, game is rather lame and stupidly overrated, another reason why you should play real old games, even mediocre ones, rather than indie slop.

Also finished Betrayal in Antara last weekend but no one really cares about that ****. It's literally the exact same game as Betrayal at Krondor without the rose tinted lenses of nostalgia, of which is a poorly aged game itself.

I put about 20 hours into BaK, but spent all of it in the first chapter and got bored.Tinky Winky wrote: ↑ November 19th, 2025, 06:00Also finished Betrayal in Antara last weekend but no one really cares about that ****. Making the space thread made me want to start playing Kerbal Space Program, its been almost 8 years since I last touched it. Lots of mods for this game now, put all the visual mods i found, game looks pretty decent now.
They put womyn astronauts in the game

Probably one of the better maps they've released in a while. The boat scene was really cool.DecadeRiptide wrote: ↑ November 19th, 2025, 06:20Havnt played Vermintide II in a while but might try out the new map
Did come across some moron who didn't yet know the spawns and ran off into an army of 10 chaos warriors. After chuckling to myself a little bit, he called me a "stupid ******* little elf" who "abandoned the frontlines" and then "stole his loot". He rage quit the game before I could remind him that he killed himself. Oh well.
10/10 would play again (but I uninstalled again to focus on other things before I get addicted)

Tried to replay Stonekeep, too cumbersome and tedious, way too slow to want to deal with.
River Reik was one of the better VT1 maps imo. At this point, Fatshark should really make an effort to port all the VT1 maps into VT2, including all the short gimmick maps (ahem, Well Watch), or commit to including them in a prospective VT3.DecadeRiptide wrote: ↑ November 21st, 2025, 06:55Probably one of the better maps they've released in a while. On topic, I'm juggling Monomyth, Kingdoms of Amalur (doing a might character), and finishing Underrail. I cannot wait until the holidays; I'm planning on taking a couple of weeks off to go hunting and finally clear out this year's backlog.
I'm little over half way through Mass Effect 1. It's first time I've played it in over a decade so it's interesting to experience the story again as someone who is much more savvy to messaging and isn't blue pilled like I was when I first played it. So far I've been enjoying it and the game holds up quite well. It obviously has a progressive slant but the lore is still interesting and reminds me of why I was so into the series back in the day. I know it's a common joke that the Volus are the space **** of the universe but I kind of think the Batarians fit that description as well after completing the Bring Down the Sky DLC.

Finished Perihelion: The Prophecy, great vibe and aesthetic while underwhelming at everything else, game is beautiful to look at but pain in the *** to play even with a guide due to how clunky the control is. The combat is stupidly easy as you can just spam life drain and everything will die within 2 rounds, including the final boss. Not recommend unless you are into obscure old crpgs.
Edit: Download link if you really want to try it yourself, afaik this is the most reliable source I've found. : https://archive.org/details/PerihelionT ... -ZombsLair

ATOM RPG. So far its been pretty decent. It lets you do pretty much whatever right of the bet so that is nice and is the closest I think I´ll find to a proper Fallout 1-2 successor. They are also, from what I can tell, so far not ********. You can only choose between male and female. Male´s gain extra 'heroic' and combat skills/feats, whilst woman gain more persuasion/charisma.

Playing GTA 4 right now. I haven't played it much before due to constant technical issues. Now that there's some useful mods that turn the abysmal PC port into a proper game (and make it look ten times better without ruining the original aesthetics), I'm finally playing through it all.
It's incredible. Rockstar really do know how to make the best sandbox games. A lot of other devs can't deliver a game world that feels alive, more often that not ending up with an empty theme park full of cardboard boxes for buildings and NPCs that might as well not be there. The Mafia games, the Ubisoft games (Watch Dogs), True Crime games. Hell, even Saints Row games got worse and worse at that after 2.
I honestly think GTA 4 is better than 5. There's so much more interactivity and the world is so much more detailed. The car stuff alone is much better: from the little stuff like being able to leave the engine running or turn it off to the crazy vehicle damage system. Oh, and speaking of physics - the Euphoria physics engine is unbelievably cool. It's also used in Force Unleashed and it made flinging stormtroopers around very fun.
5's characters feel like they were specifically written to get on your nerves as much as possible. 4 has a bunch that are endearing despite their flaws (Roman, Brucie, even Little Jacob).
Also, the missions haven't become as chafingly restrictive yet, so that's nice.

Playing Need For Speed Heat. It's pretty good. The driving is arcadey but very fun. Drifting around corners is really nice.
It looks incredible, especially at night. The sense of speed is conveyed beautifully, even when you're driving under 100 mph.
But, boy, is the music ******* AWFUL. Just absolute dogshit. Totally unlistenable.
Not the same game, but the music sounds about as bad. It's all ****** mumblerap and **** gibberish along with ****** Eastern European (I think?) nonsense.
Also, every single character (including the dozen possible player characters) looks ******* UGLY AS HELL. The least ugly guys are the asian guy and the fat Brendan Fraser lookalike. Everyone else is genuinely painful to look at.

I am on a binge on slavic first person shooters, currently playing Necrovision: Lost Company - a mild improvement over the base game.

The police chases SUCK in this game. The original Most Wanted is still better than any of this annoying ****.
So, I don't recommend this game. The pretty visuals do not outweigh the **** music and voice acting and the police chases are trash.

Reporting on my latest attempt at Dark Souls, which took about 14 hours.
My previous Prepare to Die run ended more than 80 days ago at the Capra Demon, which is a broken boss that resulted in my becoming disgusted and uninstalling.
This time I was able to run Remastered (couldn't make it work previously) and the Capra Demon was a breeze. The twist is that it was nerfed between Prepare to Die and Remastered. Less poise damage, less damage on hit, and the dogs are delayed by ~10 s. So now I understand why people suggested I git gud.
I got to Blight Town in one direction and the Tomb of Giants (?) in another, and then uninstalled again.
Here is the problem: many of the level designs feel like you are exploring a butthole. Anor Londo looks pretty on Youtube, and the Undead Burg and Cathedral were OK. But many other levels are dismally unattractive and tortuous: catacombs, depths; and blight town on this newest playthrough.
Dark Souls 2 had a much better artistic vision with regard to all environments; there is no ugly level in that game. The more oppressive ones are short, and not viscera-like mazes .Even the gutter and the spitting statue level below it did not overstay their welcome and had good artistic design.
Too much of time played was spent hanging in unsavory locations.
Verdict: 3/10 still. Massive drawbacks extinguish the value of the combat and the melancholy environments.

Been playing Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem. An excellent survival horror title for the 'Cube which boasted a ton of innovations for the genre, including it's infamous "sanity" mechanic, that were simply never iterated on or repeated again. The game has a lot of charm and excellent atmosphere, with a very Lovecraftian plot of course. The story isn't deep, but entertaining enough, and the idea of playing as multiple characters across history is novel. It certainly gives the game a great sense of scale which no other title in the genre has.
It was one of a handful of quality games Silicon Knights ever made before going bankrupt, and I wonder what could have been if they had released this game on all platforms at the time, and if it were successful enough to guarantee a trilogy and the devs' continued existence to this day. Alas, any developer who partnered with Nintendo back then paid dearly, even the likes of Capcom. The CEO of Nightdive stated that Eternal Darkness is near the top of his list when it comes to remasters, and if the stars align and Nintendo agrees to sell the rights then that would be awesome. The game deserves a wider audience.
