Didn't know nips made a turn-based party RPG based on Wizard of Oz
I remember that one! I'd seen it in a bargain bin and always regretted not snagging it while I'd had the chance.

The box kind of made me think it was a tie-in to some children's show I'd never heard of, which really didn't help sell it at the time. As it was heavily marked down, I suspect the box had a similar effect on others that had seen it as well:

It is an interesting game. There are a lot of cool concepts on Nintendo DS.

I think you can find some complete rom packs out there. It runs nicely in Retroarch, especially with some graphical tweaking.

Its criminal this game didn't launch in the US, the Japanese made it for us specifically. The 2000s were the peak of Japanese American relations, so many games made for white Americans to play. A simpler, better time.

Ed Greenwood, David Gaider, and Trent Oster ar interviewed about the 25th anniversary of BG2. Some of you may want to watch this, although I would advise against it. I'm spoilering this video because there's a fat ****** from the first second of the video on.

This guy does a lot of older RPG videos but I don't particularly care for his personality, just feels very monotone and boring
https://www.youtube.com/@aquawalrus/videos

But as I stated, he does a lot of older games so you could do worse for some of them. e.g., I completely forgot this existed
He used the term "blobber"

@Val the Moofia Boss have you played the older Legend of Heroes games?

I recall you posting a bunch about the later ones(Trails in the Sky, I believe?)

The first one is the only one I've played. Surprising story-heavy for how old it is. Lots of excellent/****** English VA if you're into that, kind of a generic rebellion storyline. Super grindy as one might expect. Feel like it did something annoying where if you walk straight into a wall, you start sliding along it.

The pre Trails series LoH games, no. They have been on my radar because they are the precursor to Trails (along with a Korean RPG that was published by Falcom called Arcturus), being a major inspiration fot Kondo (former Falcom famboy who ran a fan website, was hired, and then created Trails with lead writer Takieri and is now president of Falcom), and because of the music and art. However, the original PC version with the gorgeous art is not available in English. The PSP remakes have an English localizstion, but the aesthetic is unappealing. I heard that there was a fan trandlation attempt of the originals a few years ago, but IDK if they ever completed. I tried getting Arcturus with the fan translation patch to run but couldn't get it to work.

I just saw his video pop up in my recommended a few days ago. That's kind of cool but at the same time I can't help but be a bit resentful towards him considering how he handled his departure by deleting all his accounts without warning. He mentioned being unsure if he'll return to making gaming content and I'd say that's probably a good decision considering the last year or so before he retired I remember him frequently bashing gaming as a whole in livestreams and making remarks like he'd delete the hobby from existence if he could. Around that time he also began trashing his fans on telegram and said that they weren't giving him enough donations for the amount of effort he was putting into his videos. I think his mod ultimately failing to catch any real attention broke him in some ways and made him very bitter.

A trailer for DLC that's going to be 7 years old in a few days, for a 9 years old game. Still goes pretty hard.
