The Swapper is not "about" depression. Some of the themes might be depressing since it's a sci-fi puzzle game involving cloning/transferring consciousness.

Life is Strange also isn't about depression.

I haven't played Stardew Valley but I have a hard time believing it's about depression, maybe one character in the game at some point mentions being sad so it ended up on a reddit list of "depressing games" that the bot scraped.

It does say "touches on it with certain characters". It looks like one of them is a depressed alcoholic.

All of those games about wanting to ************* but so few games about being a real life cereal killer. Sure, there are plenty of mass murder style games like GTA but not one lets you stalk a coed for weeks, shop for hazmat gear and plastic wrap, while picking out the right barrel for corpse disposal.

The Static Speaks My Name is like a crappy arthouse film and it's more about the act of suicide and insanity than depression, but at least it's not a ***** game which it looks like 9/10ths of these are. One Night, Hot Springs is literally a ***** game.

Yes, one of the characters works at walmart and hates his life, he copes by hard drinking and during his friend quest he tries to kill himself and you save him.

Well the game did sell like a billion copies and made the sole (I think) developer a millionaire overnight.
