this completely destroys eldenslop fans because nothing about the game is close to redeemable other than the supposed ""good"" gameplay, but you can just post short clips of enemies not even able to see the player reacting to your input

AFAIK Elden Ring is the only new AAA game that has artistic sceneries AND made them into the actual part of level design rather than just cinematic ********. Name a gaming experience from a recent AAA title that has a section as memorable as Jagged Peak in the DLC.

Name an AAA game released post 2020 better than Elden Ring. I don't even like soulslop but it's pretty much the only new big game that worth it.
Expedition 33 is a better AAA game and it's not even AAA
Ugly cinematic troonslop does not count.
It does count, it's a god tier game and will be recognized and remembered as such. Anyone calling E33 "troonslop" better have swore entirely 100% off of western games a decade ago with 0 exceptions, because it's literally the best one by a ******* mile

the recent afro samurai game is superior because it doesn't have enemies using ESP to react to your input from the other side of a wall

I agree with this part, and that's why I said I don't really like ER in the first place. Fromsoft is slowly but steadily becoming reddit: the dev when they started taking those reddit memes seriously.

It has the most annoying areas in all souls games. Black Gulch, The Gutter, Shrine of Amana and the 3 dlcs are all *** where they also had that snowstorm area with lightning horses spawning and one shotting you.
Yeah I don't really disagree with it having the most annoying areas in some cases. I personally don't mind Black Gulch or the Shrine of Amana and I'd put The Gutter on par with Blighttown. I actually think the DLC was better then the base game. I might just have **** taste though like my fellow DS2 enjoyers :D

Only good things are the the fires to increase zone difficulty and respawn mobs and corrosive urns so you can ruin the armor of people in pvp and they have to pay the blacksmith a lot. And yes majula was nice and maybe 2 other areas. But I rather prefer the Dark Souls 3 animation and engine improvements. DS2 looks so washed out and most bosses arent that memorable except the mirror knight maybe. And its the one game where Miyazaki didnt work on I think.
I would agree that the game does look washed out in some cases. Scholar of the first sin changed the lighting from the vanilla game and I think it was a bad change for that reason.
looked also bad before scholar of the first sin, also I never played that.

Why is input reading bad? Should the enemies just attack and dodge randomly? Predictable behavior is meant to be learned and taken advantage of by the player.

This mod makes Dark Souls 2 one of the best looking Fromsoft titles as well as making light and torches a more important mechanic. Works client side and can take presets like an ENB.

For the same reason letting an AI in a strategy game cheat instead of making it play better is considered to be a terrible practice. They're incapable of making difficult enemies that are fair so they resort to cheating and cheap practices (e.g., attack delays)

Are people still pretending elden rang was good?
I am not much of a "Dark Souls" guy, or really anything in this genre. From my play of it (not very far) it was ok, seemed typical action/arcade with a RPG layer thrown over it. I didn't hate it, but it wasn't so enthralling to keep me engaged for very long.

How is it β€œcheating?” The purpose is clearly to limit players’ ability to resort to the path of least resistance. For example, say I wanted to try kiting a boss and whittling him down with Black Flame. I would not be engaging with his move set, making the boss fight a mere resources check. So instead, the boss is able to imperfectly but effectively dodge, use a gap closing move, or their own ranged attack. A magic build now has to consider when to use his spells instead of mindlessly lobbing them at the enemy.

This wasn’t perfectly implemented, of course. High level sorcery builds (the blue magic) could bypass the move set entirely in some cases. This would be less of a problem if it was harder to do because the open world design meant less clever use of stats and mechanics and more just following slop tutorials found on Tik Tok.

The game rewards you for abusing broken mechanics and is designed around it, it's a fundamentally poorly designed game that is liked by abject ******* who further ruin the video game industry by heaping praise on it.

Give some examples if you feel so strongly about it. I already pointed out sorcery’s effectiveness in some boss fights.

So he used luck and extensive game knowledge to optimize a meat shield with no sense of strategy.

We’re getting pretty far from input reading.

The point was the game was designed around abusing broken mechanics, Miyazaki has admitted this
"But in preparation for Shadow of the Erdtree, I played through the main story of Elden Ring. I want to preface this by saying I absolutely suck at video games, so my approach or play style was to use everything I have at my disposal, all the assistance, every scrap of aid that the game offers, and also all the knowledge that I have as the architect of the game … the freedom and open-world nature of Elden Ring perhaps lowered the barrier to entry, and I might be the one who's benefiting the most from that, as a player, more than anyone else."
Anyone who thinks the game is "hard" is playing it the wrong way. Sorry, the game was designed to be played with a guide and abusing broken builds!

Yeah, the game is as hard as you want it to be. It’s fun both to experiment with breaking the system and play β€œhonestly.” People with poor imagination are missing out.

Isn't that how Pong is meant to be played? It's not like Pong is a very physically complex game. Pong is mostly a novelty game to show off that you can make a game. It's not meant to be a case of hardcore longplay gaming. If you wanted to make play less obvious, you'd have to introduce more complexity to it.

Isn't DS2 just another souls though?

Like, DS2 doesn't really have any unique qualities beyond those of an excellent game, but essentially it's just another souls game.

This comes from a big fan, but the only thing that DS2 has that differentiates it from the others is that it's made by a different team.

Don't think it was the best either, maybe the second best, it's really hard to compete with DS1 if you ask me.
