Nominating Geneforge 1.

Geneforge 1, by the way, has a remake.
Sounds good, I've been meaning to check out the Geneforge series. Image

Really liked this game. It's quite challenging but not unfair as it provides many opportunities and tricks to the player to overcome these challenges. Crafting system is great, flexible blueprints and material qualities work quite well as it's possible to craft armor and weapons adjusted to one's particular build and needs.
I'm not done with Underrail yet as I have some quests and a lot of unexplored areas in the main game and two DLCs I'm yet to start. I'm going to take a break from it though to try Geneforge.

Found the Walking Fish in a Siphoner filled cave in the south west of the Black Sea.
(I think I've dropped a hook and line into every water filled crack in all of Underrail now.)

@Tweed the game is discounted on GoG so I was considering getting it for the future, but wanted to ask, should I get the DLCs as well? They seem alright, but wanted to ask for your opinion on this

There's a trick you can pull using the crafting feat disassemble. If you also max its specialization you get back the components without quality loss, so if you pull apart metal armor or a sniper rifle and then put it back together the item's durability is restored to 100%. Saves a bit of coin and weight on repair kits. This won't work on unique guns though as they can't be disassembled. My K&H MP6 is greedily drinking bullets and repair kits.

@DagothGeas5 I'll give you my two cents as well. The Expedition expansion pack intergrates well with the base game and so far has been of the same high quality.

I can't comment on the areas added by Heavy Duty's expansion, as I haven't entered them yet. The new types of weapons brought by the expansion look pretty fun though and are available throughout Underrail.

Expedition is excellent and well worth getting. Heavy Duty added new weapons and a small amount of high-level content, it's decent, but you could live without it.

Been playing this one with the pure caster, stealth mage build focusing on Thought Control and Temporal Manipulation, probably not the strongest build but definitely fun. The ability to commit TND (Total Native Death) and TPD (Total Pirate Death) while barely taking any damage makes the build worthwhile.

Still, I decided to end the game with the secret mutant ending as I've never done it before:

do you guys think cave magic improved or worsened underrail compared to other fallout-inspired games?

Are you talking about psionics? If so, I liked this addition as it allows new possibilities for lore and gameplay.

Couldn't stop noticing it after I read it from a tabletop RPG developer's article(Alexander Macris), but it seems true that you can improve near any RPG setting by adding magic if it doesn't have magic. Obviously it should still be setting-dependent magic, but magic nonetheless.

Fallout probably would have been better with psionics.

Psionics are cool.

I bet Todd is currently planning to add something like this into fallout 5 (it'll be crap and low effort, and will look like skyrim's magic where you chuck fireballs from your left hand).

It kind of has it already with psychics but it's not as fleshed out as in Underrail.

It's just a bit of a throwaway that was never really followed up on.
Never played the action game interplay made so it might be in there, I guess.

I like when devs bring back something throwaway that was in the earlier installments. Definitely beats most of the new stuff Bethesda came up with by themselves.

FO76 requires constant new content and most of it has been far worse than anything that will make it into FO5

@rusty_shackleford you're underestimating Todd, Emil, and the rest of those ******* who still work there. They've made Starfield, and they've greenlit Fallout show.
