What would a geneforge 2 badge look like?
Either of those or try and make one out of the mutant lizard fetus thing that features on both versions title art.CornCake wrote: ↑ November 1st, 2025, 05:59@J1M I like the helix, but you can also use the official icons

The top is the first game icon, the bottom is the second. Forgot to mention, apologies.Tweed wrote: ↑ November 1st, 2025, 06:26Either of those or try and make one out of the mutant lizard fetus thing that features on both versions title art.CornCake wrote: ↑ November 1st, 2025, 05:59@J1M I like the helix, but you can also use the official icons

Sounds like a problem for future J1M.
Thanks for the reference images. I don't think they look as good as the helix at 19px high but maybe someone else can make it work.CornCake wrote: ↑ November 1st, 2025, 05:59@J1M I like the helix, but you can also use the official icons

Future J1M has noticed the Geneforge 2 title is cyan blue instead of green, so he would lazily change the helix to cyan.J1M wrote: ↑ November 1st, 2025, 13:24Sounds like a problem for future J1M.

You can earn badges at any time. Beating a game during its month only entitles you to nominate a game for the next month.Barntar who Plows wrote: ↑ November 2nd, 2025, 21:29Shame I missed the last Guild threads, would have liked those badges for playing the games I enjoy. Well at least this gives me another excuse to play Geneforge.

Oyster Sauce wrote: ↑ October 29th, 2025, 05:10Post a screenshot showing you've beaten a JAG game to earn a badge for your profile. There's no time limit to earn a badge, but if you beat the active game of the month you can nominate an RPG for the next poll.
How long did it take ya?
I don't know. The game doesn't seem to track it, and I don't remember. That was my run from 4.5 years ago. I did everything I could do in one run, including some experimenting with different choices and endings; my guess is around 30 hours, maybe.
WhiteShark wrote: ↑ November 6th, 2023, 14:36I've only played Geneforge: Mutagen, the remake of 1, but I highly enjoyed it. Maybe I just expected it to look bad and was therefore unperturbed, but the graphics didn't bother me. The game is very free and open, which was refreshing. I played a shaper and had great fun wandering around the island and building up my mutant monster horde.
WhiteShark wrote: ↑ February 8th, 2023, 16:48Another who finished as a Shaper here. That one challenge fight against the cockatrices was pretty deep. I also remember assaulting the fortress head-on and... well, that's mostly it, really. I didn't pick a side so I never fought any of the villagers. That probably saved me a lot of trash-clearing.
I probably said more in IRC, but I don't feel like trawling the logs.
YesBarntar who Plows wrote: ↑ November 3rd, 2025, 02:18Probably should have asked this earlier but I can just play the classic Geneforge 1 to if I don't own the remaster, right?
I'm in the last quarter of the game and this is pretty accurate to my experience as well. Drayks don't seem significantly better than Cryora despite costing a lot more.Tweed wrote: ↑ November 6th, 2025, 15:00WIN!
@Oyster Sauce GIB BADGE!
Post Mortem:
I don't know if I like Mutagen better than OG. This game is very B A L A N C E D, which makes combat bland and long. Instead of focusing everything into a few really powerful creations, you need to field a full group to take the beating and honestly, pumping up shaping skills seems to matter very little. The old power cryora rush doesn't work anymore and neither does having two cryo drayks to handle most of the game one you get them. Every battle becomes a slugfest and I found the most powerful creature is actually the base drayk with overload and quick action for the double damage and haste effect, cryo drayks fall to the wayside, battle alpha/betas are still almost as useless as before, and there's almost never a point in making ghlaaks.
New content is alright, I guess. Some filling out of the plot with the jerks on the eastern docks. The cockatrice isn't worth getting save for xp and completely worthless, even when fully roided out.
Yeah. I had a full group of drayks. The first two waves went down fast enough for me to save in the middle of the gauntlet. The third wave is a crapshoot because of how often creatures miss their shots and you get hit with terrorize and run off the pad. Overload is where its at, it's the only way to do any real damage and speed up fights.WhiteShark wrote: ↑ November 6th, 2025, 23:55@Tweed, did you do the cockatrices fight? I imagine that's where balance changes to the monsters would be most keenly felt.
