Stutter stepping back was more effective for me than body blocking. Though there were only a few times that required this, when a monster was spawned at an usually high level. There's also the shield spell that can turn someone into a tank if needed.Statesman wrote: β July 17th, 2025, 05:38Warriors are meant to bodyblock but the sparse healing makes them a pain the *** to use properly in early. And while at end-game they can be quite strong, mages are useful at lvl 1. Bodyblocking also makes ranger suck (I mostly use my rangers as scouts early game to explore the overworld. A speedrun team, would probably have at least 1 mage due to teleportation (plus the MC counts as a warrior).J1M wrote: β July 17th, 2025, 03:12My party was 2 warriors, 3 mages, 1 ranger. Honestly the warriors were pretty useless and if I had to play this again I'd probably take 6 mages since their attacks can't miss and don't require positioning. If you were trying to "speed run" I'd take 6 rangers and finesse the tactical combat since that could remove the need to rest.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one who found warriors useless. I actually did restart with the six mage party, but I got too fed up with it to finish. Pretty sure I also encountered a bug that prevented me from reaching an area that was supposed to be accessible.J1M wrote: β July 17th, 2025, 03:12My party was 2 warriors, 3 mages, 1 ranger. Sure! No guarantee I'll get around to trying it again, but I think it'd be neat if you posted them.

Regarding teleportation, in case future players can't figure it out, feel free to do the following:DagothGeas5 wrote: β July 16th, 2025, 06:29As for teleporting, I cannot recall precisely at the moment, but I think to recall it was all done through the map, possibly a spell? I might be wrong, but I think I recall it was "select a location through the map, then cast the spell" or just selecting the circle? I wish I could help more
As for the fountain, the fountain restores you as if you had a long rest plus healing that I recall, but I think it is one-time use only unless I am mistaken the one I myself found was in the forest to the East, with another fountain somewhere else I forget but that I recall as "having a lesser effect"(if you do use it, waiting a day and then checking back might show if it truly does respawn).
- Click on the name of the mage that has the Teleport spell.
- Click on the move button and then on your destination on the map.
- You should now get the option to either move with "teleport" or "by foot".
Also, the potion refill fountain can be reused but it takes an undetermined amount of gametime to be restored.
If you ever do, you might want to look into these: https://www.oldgames.sk/en/game/crystal ... orea/docs/WhiteShark wrote: β July 17th, 2025, 06:23Sure! No guarantee I'll get around to trying it again, I think it'd be neat if you posted them.

Strongly recommending you guys try the Atari/Amiga versions. I suspect they probably had patches the DOS version did not, based on the fact that they actually have music meaning it was probably added after the DOS release?
Thank you for your attention to this matter!

During my exploration for something that worked, I recall I played one version that even had a different cinematic intro, but I can't recall if it had sound or not.

To call this game antiquated would be generous, easily one of the most clunky, obtuse, and boredom inducing frustrations I've had the displeasure of experiencing, with the only mercy being it's short length (due to the resources posted in here) of only 2 1/2 hours. There's nothing unique about it and has zero old game charm, especially with the main villain's name being copied from Tolkien outright. At least the 3D view looked nice for 1990.
Thanks to all of you who posted info (@J1M that map helped massively, pure class mate), made this much less maddening than it would have been.
@Oyster Sauce badge please, thanks mate.
