After defeating Ketheric, and the Avatar of Myrkul, I noticed a few glitches with Ser Aelen. As depicted in the images, the overworld model is working. However, when Isobel comes in and finds him, he seems to revert to a glitched verison of the female model. Any idea what might be causing this? The same thing happens in Lorroakan's tower. I don't have any other mods affecting Aelen.

Gandalf remained for a while staring after him into the darkness. ‘Good-bye, my dear Bilbo - until our next meeting!’ he said softly and went back indoors.
my dear bilbo, doesn't have the same tone to it as my bilbo.

Exactly. It's a shortened version of "my dear friend Bilbo" in that context. Proving my exact point, lol. Thanks Rusty.

"My Bilbo" would just be gay, unless Bilbo was "owned" by him in some way. It would only be phrased that way if referring to an employee, team member or something. Otherwise in just a general social context, "my x" would only be used in a romantic ownership sense.

Change to "My friend x", or just remove the "my". Either works.

You're right, it suits his pompous attitude, and remembering what he was like, i think he would have preened and said this even if he hadn't been living in bg. Strikes me as the type that would call you ignorant for the sake of it :scratch-pipe:
If you do something with Barcus, could you make it optional?
You don't have to even think about it, of course, the mod is perfect and will remain perfect no matter what you do with it.

It's just, I strongly disagree with labelling Barcus gay. He is not. The first thing the gay movement ruined was friendship. Or, better say, representation of friendship. Now BFF has always that gay undertone or been suspected of it. Tons of art - from ancient times to modern days - dedicated to friendship to the last breath, when friends would honestly die for each other, is appropriated by the alphabet mafia as "secretly gay but could not say it out loud". "My Wulbren" is perfectly fine within a friendship frame - it's a bromance at best. Nowhere in the dialogues is there a hint at anything else - and this is in the game where authors used every opportunity to put gay relationships front and center. If you kill a gay partner of anyone, the remaining partner would call you names, be devastated and cry a lot (yes, I checked it myself). Straight couples generally would not, but that's beside the point. Barcus did not get that gay script, he mournes a friend, not a lover. Even wiki (!) states zero evidence in-game or from devs for romance. He is maybe the only straight deep gnome in the game. Let him be.
I don't think a man, even a best bro would ever say "my" x. He would say "my friend", or "my bro" or "my man blabla" or something.
My [Name] is usually reserved for romantic possession, or enslaved.

Literally just adding the word "friend" should do.
I remember reading Meditations from Marcus Aurelius, and there are letters where he calls his teacher Marcus Cornelius Fronto "breath of my life", "my delight", and Fronto calls him "Beloved Boy". I know there is this stigma of greco-roman faggotry (mostly jewish propaganda), but in other letters, Aurelius also disapproved of homosexuality, I can't know the mind of a man that lived almost 2000 years ago, my interpretation was of a very close friendship, no homo allowed, but my point is that I think that thinking someone is gay for saying "my [name]" to another man is more of a modern thing, were men started living more around feminine things and seeing gay in every detail "What? You prefer to stay around other men learning how to be honorable and having multiple skills instead of going crazy around women babbling all day and reducing your testosterone? GAYYYYYY".

Here there is a strong connotation of guardianship. My beloved child. My beloved apprentice. My beloved team members. It doesn't sound gay even as your wrote it. Even if a teacher says My Tom is a fantastic student it doesn't sound gay because of the guardianship there. My dave is the best hunter in the area, he won't disappoint you. Context matters.

I think this is quite different.

Broken, all and everything is broken in this world.
  • Achilles and Patroclus in The Iliad by Homer (c. 8th century BCE): "But now, since I shall not return to my fatherland... nor did I bring one ray of hope to my Patroclus, nor to the rest of all my steadfast comrades..."
  • Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John Watson in The Adventure of the Blanched Soldier by Arthur Conan Doyle (1926) "And here it is that I miss my Watson. By cunning questions and ejaculations of wonder he could elevate my simple art, which is but systematized common sense, into a prodigy of intuition and skill."
  • Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John Watson (again) in A Scandal in Bohemia by Arthur Conan Doyle (1891) "I am lost without my Boswell."
  • John Knowles’s A Separate Peace (1959) presents the friendship between Gene and Phineas. Gene often says about his friend “my Phineas”.
Even if it's not the most common thing in the world, it does exist. But in modern days, everything is gay. I certainly will not uninstall the best mod for BG3 there is if "my" will be missing in "my Wulbren" (I would never see this line anyway), but think the work unnecessary.

The top two are related to employment / teamwork, "my" is perfectly fine here as it's essentially short for "my team member".
Unsure about the last. Context needed.

If there is NO other possessive context (team member, slave, employer or family member, etc.) then it's likely gay. On it's OWN, that is. "My Dear Bilbo", the context is clearly short for "my dear friend, Bilbo". Quite a difference.

Also what's the most likely, in BG3? Considering everything else is ******* gay. There should be less benefit of the doubt.

If I can get out of modding because there is precedence, i'll take it! The "my Wulbren" team wins this one.

Also Larian has been overtly faggy about every other relationship, that they haven't been with this one, .... it might just be very close friends.

Minor oversight in the dialogue options while dealing with the Nightsong and talking to Balthazar where he's imprisoned. If you're a Selunite, you get dialogue that says, "The moonmaiden's light dances around this one... You will harm her no more, necromancer."

"My Wulbren" still feels different. All the examples you mentioned are old literature and the expression would be more acceptable or carry a different meaning back then. Nowadays, no one calls "My Tom" to his friend. It's clearly gay. Why is Barcus not overtly gay? Simple. Different writers. Also, he is one of the first NPCs the player will encounter and the game (act 1) was in Early access for
a long time. But he is clearly gay. I think at first Larian was writing more subtly, less on the nose. By Act 3, they didn't care anymore.

Wait, is this the reason why a new version was created, where Wyll isn't blonde? Because of soy backlash? D:

Don't you just love how his nail polish compliments the wine glass as he waves it around in a limp wristed manner? Take the classics for instance, Conan getting his revenge on Thulsa Room for murdering his family, Sam & Frodo destroying The One Ring, or the triple threat gun fight at the end of The Good The Bad and The Ugly...not one **** got sucked, and not once did we have to see a token ****** **** something outside of his race. I am 100% for entertainment that subscribes to this sort of thing exclusively, because I can choose not to watch it. It's when it inserts itself into entertainment that wouldn't previously have it.

No because its a direct copypasta of the Diva thing that attacks you when you steal from the temple. Also Animations were a bit broken at the time.

Here's Wyll: viewtopic.php?p=49326

What enslavers? you mean the gondian's enslaver? don't think so. there's really no place for chult in BG3, unless you wanna explain how a primitive people suddenly popped into a different continent.

It's still whac-a-mole with all these woke elements, but RR & NA had made it 100% better. I changed Karlach's hair, and raised the pitch of her voice to take some of the sting of the character, only to get pegged by her after a date in act 3. There is a mod on Nexus that corrects the roles, but I didn't know that at the time.

Nice, I'm not too worried about the "well written" woke parts, even though I understand why they're intolerable. Like Astarion sounding gay and posh as a vampire is fitting and the barbarian girl Karlach sounding a bit lesbo is fine, but everything else is unbearable, I can't feel immersed playing a half orc at all with stuff like Gale's magic lessons, or like how the politics is constantly on your face and straight-up evil sometimes, like white devil slavers as if slavery wasn't done by everyone, or Derryth Bonecloak, claiming she was abused so she abuses this mentally ill guy who can't defend himself and it's the most optimal thing to help her keep him mentally ill.
I hope you guys cut off Derryth Bonecloak too, I can make a run and report anything you guys missed if you want.
The CEO is def a **** cause he's a D&D fan there is no way this wasn't his wife doing since she's also involved with the company

like white devil slavers as if slavery wasn't done by everyone,
But Duergar slavers are black though? :scratch-pipe: Or sort of grey I guess, and they're too organized to be fantasy ******* anyway.

Or are you talking about the Banites in Act 3? I only played Act 3 so far with the Better Aesthetics mod (proto-RR), was vanilla Larian so shamelessly anti-White that in a city of mongrels they kept the evil Bane worshippers strictly lily-white?
or Derryth Bonecloak, claiming she was abused so she abuses this mentally ill guy who can't defend himself and it's the most optimal thing to help her keep him mentally ill.

I'll go to bat for the Bonecloaks, they are very well written sidequest NPCs.

First you meet the wife, and she is a nasty unpleasant *****. She talks about her husband like he's a piece of **** and she clearly uses him like a slave, and then you go find him and he's just this ******** but harmless and kind of pitiful dude. So you think you could heal him... but then you talk to the ox and he surprisingly corroborates the wife's account, that he was a nasty violent *******.

Now you have the choice - is lifelong mental retardation under a shrew's thumb a fair punishment for being a wife- (and animal-) beater? The game handles it really well I think, there's no clear "best" choice and whichever way you go at least one of the dwarf merchants will be an *******. But there's no big gameplay implication (the Noblestalk can unlock some extra content for Shart or Durge, but nothing critical), so you're free to do what you want.

Hell, you can kill the wife and then heal the husband if you want, nobody will criticize you for it (just don't tell him that you killed her). Or if you simply heal him, you're not subjected to a woke "oh no the poor innocent womyn is being beaten again" scene in Act 3, instead they just break up and it's as good an outcome as any.

There's one thing I don't like, and it's how the writers cheat a bit with the wife's journal in Act 3 - it always plays "against" your choice. If you chose to leave the husband ********, the journal reveals that the wife poisoned him (after the beatings, but still); but if he died, the journal says that it was due to his abuse of his own proructs. IMO they should have stuck with one version. (Though, in the first version the wife also strikes through the admission and notes that she should destroy the evidence, so it's not much of a stretch to assume the alternate version is just her covering her own tracks.)
