Tried the demo for this, the characters are ugly and I can see the downscaling on character creation so I didn't even go beyond that. Unrealslop.

The kind of gameplay the developer is using to make an "open world" RPG based on:

He's clearly played them. He righteously casts shade on Thief 3, for example.

You may as well not bother replying to my posts if it's to argue anything except concrete facts or your personal opinion. I still probably won't see it.

This looks like one of those weird, discount games you'd find in the Walmart next to endless copies of 1,000 games on a dvd and Dungeon Siege.

Seems like it might be OK, but it looks very mobile. Not necessarily a bad thing, it's something I'd play on mobile
Definitely a lack of actually good mobile games

ToEE is getting a Steam release by SNEG, don't think there any differences.
They say they are "building on" the work of modders, but there hasn't been any other information on if that means some of the Co8 or Temple+ fixes are included. Unless there's some significant QoL changes, I don't see any reason to get this over what's available on GOG.

Also, they said a September release, so if that holds true I guess they are silently releasing it in the next couple of days. They've done that before, but it doesn't seem like a good strategy.

Speaking of ToEE, I really like the way that information about character abilities, attack rolls, spell descriptions and so on are all hypertext and available from the combat log. I wish more games had followed this.

Image

Steam and GOG list this as releasing on December 10th now.

Oh, it looks like SNEG gave more information about what's in this. Core Co8 and Temple+ are included, and "improved performance on modern systems, a refined UI, smarter AI, smoother pathfinding, better stability, and countless quality-of-life upgrades"

Hello everyone!

First of all, thank you for all your posts, messages, ideas, and requests! We’re doing our best to go through everything you share, and we truly appreciate your passion and support. We weren’t very good at keeping you updated, and we apologize for that.

Finally, a few updates from our side:

Release Timing:
Based on the current schedule, we’re planning to release the updated version of The Temple of Elemental Evil in the first half of December (ideally around 8-10th). We aim to share the exact release date later this week.

UPDATED: Release date is set for December 10th 2025.

About This Version:
The Steam version builds upon the incredible work of the Circle of Eight and Temple+ modding communities. The core elements of both mods are already included in this release, and we’d like to express our heartfelt thanks to both teams for their dedication, talent, and support over the years. Not to mention their kind support with this release.

What is important is that not all community-created content will be included for legal reasons. Players who wish to experience that additional material will still be able to do so by adding the Co8 and Temple+ mods on top of the Steam version.

Improvements:
This release includes over a thousand fixes and enhancements - improved performance on modern systems, a refined UI, smarter AI, smoother pathfinding, better stability, and countless quality-of-life upgrades.

We’ll do our best to keep an eye on this thread and answer any questions or concerns you might have.

Thanks again for keeping the spirit of ToEE alive all these years!

Best regards,
SNEG Team

I've played this tactical roguelike on and off for a couple of years. The final update is to be released on Friday, it's bringing a lot of balance changes and also mod support.

This 1.0 releases tomorrow. It's technically a ***** RPG and actually pretty good, with a lot of reactivity. The first character is a reporter put into jail and you have 21 days to escape. There's a new story/character added with the new update who is a cop.

I only picked this up last month, beat the story of the first character, and currently playing as the second character. Surprisingly well-written and massively underrated. I found the combat aspect kind of lacking though which becomes easy by mid-game, and you don't really get to fight a lot either despite the number of combat-dedicated perks and weapons around. Most of the gameplay relies on skill checks, exploration, and survival management. That said, I highly recommend it.

I draw pretty pictures and shieet. Seriously, I do.

Upcoming Touhou DRPG. Looks interesting but I tend to dislike waifu-centric RPGs.

Last one.

  • Old-school 2D fantasy open world MMORPG - all the basic stuff you'd expect, monsters, loot, player trading, auction houses, achievements, guilds, professions, and so on.
  • 5 classes - play as a fighter, a priest, a sorcerer, a paladin, or a witch, each with 3 unique talent trees and 150+ talents in total.
  • 350+ quests - you can reach maximum levels by doing quests, solo or in a party.
  • 8 instance dungeons - bring friends to tackle these challenges for unique rare loot.
  • Optional PVP - don't worry, you won't be ganked.
  • No pay-to-win (ever!) - the price of the game is what you see on the tin.
  • Mix of handcrafted and generated worlds and dungeons - every day Junjun the Portal Master will open up a gateway to another world that has never been visited before.
  • Gods and deities - discover new deities, show your allegiance to them and they'll reward you.
  • Optional offline mode and custom servers - play locally without internet connection or run your own servers.

I posted this before (a bit above on November 3rd), but here's a new video of Shadowglass and the tech they're making to do the game in.
Again, the dev is drawing from fantastic old games like Thief and System Shock as overall design and feature influences.

Anyone following this one? Non-monetized, solo dev, MMO. Could be worth a laugh.

"custom" anti-cheat is a little spooky, though
