Speaking of such, why oh why didn't they make anymore Hunter: The Reckoning games? They were awesome co-op.

Because they don't know what the **** they're doing. All modern gaming companies (table top AND vidya) are full of leftist propagandists. They don't actually know how to make good games. They can only take over existing properties (that in the vast majority of cases were built and popularized by White men) and turn them into a vehicle to push their ideology. They inevitably crash said vehicle and promptly jump ship, infiltrating and destroying the next franchise/medium/etc.Tweed wrote: ↑ October 20th, 2025, 12:11Speaking of such, why oh why didn't they make anymore Hunter: The Reckoning games? "Oh, it all makes sense now, brother."
At least with pnp the GM is free to do what they want, no matter how many times they repeat in the book that you have to make sure everyone has a heckin' good, safe-space time.
Mid 00s is when everything seems to come to an end, those games were on the Xbox and PS2.

That Polish dev who makes those VtM VNs was making one, but Paradox decided they didn't want to fund these kinds of games anymore and they couldn't find a publisher willing to pick it up, so that was the end of that.Tweed wrote: ↑ October 20th, 2025, 12:11Speaking of such, why oh why didn't they make anymore Hunter: The Reckoning games? To be fair, the various splats aren't really meant to be run together, since it would be extremely difficult to make, say, Werewolf and Vampire mythology stay coherent.logincrash wrote: ↑ October 20th, 2025, 11:56The vampire hunters aren't even the biggest problem vampires have to worry about, considering that mages exist in the setting. And mages in WoD are leagues above vampires on the power scale. They basically have cheat codes for reality itself, so some bloodsucker "magic" is nothing but parlor tricks to them.
But yes, in principle, the only other faction slightly more powerful than mages are the fae, and above both are the angels/demons, and then God Himself.
Mages might be up their own *** most of the time, but if you try to harm humanity, suddenly you have the full attention of every Exarch and Oracle on you, and if that threat was vampires mages could do something really funny like making night disappear everywhere on the planet for a few months, while their agents on Earth do a vampire shoah.
Naturally, there's the Antediluvians, which are pretty powerful - to kill Zapathasura it took a shitload of Kuei-jins, werewolves, other vampires, a satellite blasting him with sunlight and mages dropping spiritual nukes on him to finally bring him down, and this was an Antediluvian that had just woken up from torpor, was barely coherent and lacking in blood.
Even then it's questionable if they managed to kill him, or if he simply made everyone think they did.
That being said, it's proof that you can kill what is the current apex of vampiredom (barring Caine) with enough "mundane" firepower and bodies - you can't really do the same with an Exarch or Oracle.

The problem is that the setting actively fights against you being anything but a tree hugging furfag.rusty_shackleford wrote: ↑ October 20th, 2025, 23:29I'm never ******* calling them "garou", they're werewolves and they're scary monsters not ******* eco terrorist injuns
With Mage, Vampire, even Hunter, you have a lot of freedom when deciding what your character's goals are. Even with Gehenna right on the doorstep, as a vampire, you can choose to ignore it. Not so as a werewolf.
And it's a pity because werewolves as part-spirit warrior fueled by rage, that can bargain, bind and command spirits, is pretty metal.
It is somewhat embarassing to admit, but I was still holding onto a smidgeon of hope that this game would rise above sensible expectations to arise as something more compelling than a log of ****. I held onto this pitiable crumb of hope even while fully aware of its distinctly turbulent development cycle involving several complete rewrites callously wrought into such disfigured shape by hundreds of barely literate "developers" who were hired based not on the quality of their code, artistic ability or literary craft, but instead based entirely upon the shrill harpy tonality of their personal character, the unnatural hues of their hair, the deranged appearance of their public social media presence and their inablity to cope with the reality of their birth gender. All that was already more than reason enough to put to rest the idealistic child living inside of my heart, but still l would not relent. Even through the multiple changing of hands of countless lead development staff and in the end even entire studios, there remained this pathetically nostalgic part of me that after seeing the final pre-release trailer thought, "Hey, this might actually be pretty good!", though such a foolish notion has now finally abandoned me entirely.
For moral reasons, I must first preface my words that will follow by clearly stating my (objectively true) belief that journalists and even more commonly, games journalists, are among the most loathsome creatures we are forced to share air with on this Earth and nearly every one of them is deserving of nothing but the eternal fires of Hell, though as the hackneyed saying goes, "Even a broken clock is right twice a day.".
The reviews are in and the game is basically a modern DOOM clone, but with less tightly designed combat mechanics and turbo gay vampire feminists that aren't even hot. The game world takes place entirely within the space of 4 city blocks, personalized character development is non-existent and all dialogue choices lead to the same outcome with it apparently taking all of its cues from Fallout 4 where you're really only being given the option of saying the same exact thing, only in a serious way, a nice way, a "mean" way or while roleplaying as (holds up spork) Katy t3h PeNgU1N oF d00m!1!!
The evidence that we're living in the gayest and most ******** timeline continues to pile up.

It's a shame that the action games are trapped on the OG Xbox and PS2. I figure another game in that vein would do decently.
VNs are some of the least costly games to make. They do not need publisher funding. I believe that was his point.logincrash wrote: ↑ October 21st, 2025, 06:51Aren't you making UE5 goonerslop? It also shows that this VtM VN project was just a cash grab, and an unsuccessful one at that.

Pretty much, it is a coomgame with turn-based combat and over the shoulder exploration iirc.logincrash wrote: ↑ October 21st, 2025, 06:51Aren't you making UE5 goonerslop? Glass houses, my brother.Brother Chad wrote: ↑ October 21st, 2025, 06:20VNsRoguey wrote: ↑ October 20th, 2025, 21:08

The Hunter game wasn't a visual novel; full-fledged game with combat, hence why it needed someone to fund development. They had to go back to VNs much to the disappointment of seemingly everyone
