Sorcerian Online — Japanese MMORPG

Post by rusty_shackleford »

I was watching this video on Sorcerian, a 1987 Japanese computer RPG:

I was searching for something related to it and found out that there was also a 2006 online game based upon it(along with a 1997 remake, and some other ports.)

Based upon the screenshots & it being Japanese, my guess is it was highly influenced by Final Fantasy XI, except with usable controls.

I know nothing about the game, I've just never once heard anyone bring it up before. Japanese MMORPGs are a bit of rarity to begin with. Finding anything else about it is difficult, it's not even on MobyGames.

There's a playlist with OST:

And some gameplay videos on youtube like this:

Information on such obscure MMOs is hard to find in my experience. Your best bet would be to find some japanese sources (old forums maybe or an archive of their main site).

Falcom has had a few online game projects, but they were licensed to other companies. The Ys MMO, and the two Trails gachas. I have never seen this mentioned in the Falcom fandom's excel spreadsheet of releases. Are we sure this was actually developed by Falcom?

Developed by Densha-sha (電遊社) in 2005, with publishing and service provided by Excite.

Denshasha supposedly made another game called Qurada online (can't find any screenshots or video of it) and is now an inactive company. Excite was bought up by an investment firm.
