I tried the demo a couple months ago, was kind of disappointed with it.

The demo was pretty basic, it felt more like a tutorial.

I'd expect the game to open up quite a bit, with additional layers of complexity in the full game.

I hope the exploration opens up and isn't a linear on rails "beat X island before going to Y island" and I'd like to have a choice between multiple options and do them in an order that suits me.

Yes, then you forget all the cool stuff you learned when the game sends you to Bahrain, where you have to stare at your feet or get your head cut off for looking a hijab in the eyes.

Exploration does open up after the demo segment. Nothing bars you from going to X island before a quest takes you there. There's a general goal of uniting the islands, and associated quests, along with a few side quests. Nothing impressive.

I don't feel strongly one way or another about the general setting of the game. On one hand, it's not that interesting, on the other hand it's preferable to the standard pozzed **** we're getting these days.
