The game has one build check, it's called Depot A. Depot A is the final tutorial mission - if you manage to beat it, then you are equipped to beat the rest of game. If not, well, time for a restart.
Depot A is hours into the game, finding out your build is junk at that point is going to make a lot of people quit

You can get back to Depot A much faster when you know what you're doing.

But there are tools to help you not need to do that, like the build tool and the wiki.

They prefer to be called furries, not "mascots", that's demeaning. He isn't some ******* disneyland employee.

five hours into a 100+ hours long game, it's not that bad.

And once you have the knowledge of these starting hours, you can reach Depot A in a matter of minutes.

This discussion goes hand in hand with How to address the respec issue?
A one-time respec if you fail Depot A might have been a decent bandaid. Don't really know how to fix the core issue tho

I recall it taking a lot longer than five hours my first time playing, but I spent a good amount of time just wandering around trying to see what hijinks I could get up to.
I also haven't played the game since before the first expansion released so my memory is fuzzy

I started Darksiders to get a jump on it. That's what I get for counting my votes before they hatch.

November is going to be Two Worlds II. It's gonna happen.

Dang, the game doesn't have Steam cloud. I thought I'm going to unearth my old saves and get a free badge.

Oh well, time for a replay.

I get PTSD playing that game because my PC randomly died playing it and now I associate my PC dying with playing that game

combat veterans can't even get close to my trauma

My problem with UnderRail is that you can have effective builds, or you can have fun builds. But not both.

Ties should result in double-feature month where you play two games.
To address the sentiment that you and @Acrux are sharing, I added an Honorable Mentions (aka tie-breaker losers that haven't won in a subsequent month) table to the chronicle: viewtopic.php?p=31706-adventurer-s-guil ... pcoming#hm

Was a good excuse to use the cool Image badge that @logincrash made.

Still think they should have to win to become official badges, but maybe the badge prototypes will help push them over the top. We've already had something like 5 months with ties and I'm sure that if the rule was to select all the tied games, we'd quickly have months with 3-way and 4-way ties.

To be clear, I'm mostly joking. I did think it was nice last year to have a "double feature", but I wouldn't want that every time there's a tie; it would lose something if it happened frequently. I also think it would lead to people gaming for ties instead of just picking the thing they want to win.

Well, Underrail was in my backlog anyway so it's a reason to start it.

Can I still nominate a game for November if I complete Darksiders? I'm fine with not having a badge.
****. Fine, I'll play Underrail but I will not be enjoying it and I will be pouting the entire time.

Destroyed a camera in the tutorial and got reprimanded for it. Nice reactivity. How is the game in terms of reactivity in general? Are there more neat moments like this?

There are some neat little moments that usually reward you with more lore if you pay attention (most famous example is Ezra character at SGS) but not enough for a lore junkie such as myself.
On a side note. This game has one of the best additional downloadable content that I played. I probably loved Expedition even more than the base game.

my favorite part about expedition was going to fetid marches and getting stuck there for HOURS due to a gorillion of locusts each having their own turns.
