What's a mechanic that bumps a game's score up for you?

For discussing role-playing video games, you know, the ones with combat.

If you don't do something to adjust the experience gain in New Vegas, you'll be max level before you finish the second DLC.

I've never seen a level cap that was accurate. They are either too low and you end up with a significant part of the game with no character progression or they are so high as to not even matter. I think it's especially bad for RPGs because there's usually enough optional content or different paths that predicting where a player will be will often be off target.

I think it would work best for games where the character progression is gated by each section. But that sounds not very fun.

hunger / thirst / sleep requirements, to the point that games without these are generally of no interest to me.

What's your opinion on the portrayal of urination and defecation in video games?

Having levels (character level, rank level). When I used to play online fps Halo and Battlefield kept me playing just to get another level, and in BF they had experience unlocks so it was an addicting setup for me. This is the same reason I kept playing The Division for so long, though outside of the dark zone became boring fast.
