I got Peak and it's pretty fun. Need people to play with. It uses proximity chat ![]()
I heard a faint "oh no" behind me after a big jump and then Dagoth was never to be seen again

Can confirm.
I highly recommend this game if anyone might want to give it a try by the way! The first person, as with the falling (which gives truly the feeling of tumbling down with added spinning and hopelessness XD) is quite well done and truly gives "grit" of any actions taken or that happens, so jumping is not just a press of a button, so to speak, but you can "feel" how the character then lands with momentum against the rock as he tries to hold onto it or slide down from it for example. It looks like a quite simple game but it truly feels very well done and in-depth thought of to play. If anyone went climbing irl, though this is a game, I say it comes very close to how it is. I never did something too extreme, but the climbing up and up just to realize the end doesn't have a flat surface but, instead, that it just slightly bends to continue on instead is a feeling they express very well here among all the rest.
The co-op is also just as beautiful. You can help your companions by holding your hand out to them, share items (even give them without their knowing by storing them in their packs if they have one), and point, with both added marker and animation, towards what route you might want to try to climb towards/what path you see, all this with added proximity chat. You can also go back and carry people that have lost all their health to then try to restore their health before their untimely demise if you wish to (and that no one dies by the end of each section gives a bonus item at a statue found at the end). It truly feels like a team effort and I hope, now that I learned more about the controls especially, that I will be able to add to it as well
Oyster made it to the top beautifully also! I could only spectate after my long fall down into the lava, but it was beautiful to see him make it to the top and ride off into the sunset

I'm sure there are some games focused around climbing I loved but I just can't seem to remember them. Only streamer slop comes to mind

Lost interest in Baby Steps after losing a few minutes of progress. Annoying game.
Looks very cool, but the game play seems rather "stretchy" looking in play, does it take a bit of getting used to?Oyster Sauce wrote: β June 22nd, 2025, 03:58This game is great so far. I like the roping mechanic.
Also, does the game support extreme widescreen resolutions do you know? This is a type of game that is fantastic if you have a super wide view. DL1 is a blast due to this.
I don't know what you mean by stretchy, but I think it's the best single player climbing game I've played. Gave up on it at the final mountain because it takes hours to scale even if you're not falling.Xenich wrote: β September 26th, 2025, 16:05Looks very cool, but the game play seems rather "stretchy" looking in play, does it take a bit of getting used to?Oyster Sauce wrote: β June 22nd, 2025, 03:58This game is great so far. It is really just an annoyance on the visual from my view. Some games handled it a bit better (DL 1 seems more natural in that respect). It isn't a major problem though, just a small issue I have with some visual representations of first person, though that view may be needed for various play concepts, so I don't know.
Game looks amazing though, I love these types of games.
Does it allow saving anywhere? If not, are the climbs between save points reasonable or is this going to be a thing where you have to schedule complete attention or lose progress?
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.
Only the final mountain allows for saves via a unique mechanic because it's so long. You can only load them once. The earlier peaks aren't so bad, but the later ones are very punishing if you fall.Xenich wrote: β September 26th, 2025, 16:56This:Oyster Sauce wrote: β September 26th, 2025, 16:23I don't know what you mean by stretchy, but I think it's the best single player climbing game I've played. There are limited bits of **** you can set up to prevent catastrophic falls, scout with, or set up shortcuts in case you need to redo the climb.

Feel like it's not that much more effort to cut a trailer using real reactions from a group of friends playing a game
This is about jumping though

How could you not want to play this when it has reviews like this?
“The best game I played at Gamescom (...) another example of an indie game with a core central mechanic that makes it agonisingly compelling”
PC Gamer
I can't believe no one has posted the only real GAMER climbing game: White Knuckles

It holds data.
What does it do in the GAME, though?

Be careful what you do with machines
