I'm noticing a few video trailers popping up recently where not only do the games look complete garbage but they're clearly ripping off well known soundtrack and music pieces from various artists.

In this trailer they've 100% taken the Witcher 3 soundtrack but... it sounds kind of ****** in a way? Like the composers suddenly got down syndrome or something. I'm wondering if the developers stole the music, fed it into AI, and said "make it a little bit differnet but keep it mostly the same".

Saw another trailer the other day where they stole a song from The Weeknd and it was the same sort of ****** result. Idk if I can find a video of it though.
Edit; found the one with the weeknd song stolen

Beyond Sunset finally released its full version.

I thought it was going to be another piece of vaporware, doomed to stay permanently in its unfinished beta(Early Access) state. Good to see a developer making it to the finish line.

As for if the game is any good... I haven't tried it yet so can't comment. This pinned and locked post on steam and the main character being yet another girl boss does have me a little worried:

I took a chance and tried Beyond Sunset, if I finish it I may give a more indepth review, but for now I'm just going to suggest avoiding it. (At least the current V1.0 release.)
► The game is almost good, but there are way to many problems currently, for example:
Interestingly one of the NPCs has this dialogue:
► Show Spoiler
Perhaps this scene was what the developer was referring to in his steam post about political messaging. Haven't encountered Melchoir yet, so I can't tell if the author wants Balthazar to have a point, or if they are writing him as an evil racist.

I waited for it to leave Early Access and still got an undercooked game, vexing. :scratch-pipe:

Refers to Melchior as "they." Probably the latter.

If I take too many dialogue choices like the first I will lose my paladin powers because it isn't arbitrarily written (lawful) instead of (good), this alignment system ******* sucks.

Yeh. What I personally think happened is that Owlcat made a terrible job implementing the alignment system.

Like for example in the NWN games the meters for Law/Chaos and Good/Evil were properly separated, and you could do as many Good actions as you wanted as a paladin and be good as long as you avoided Chaotic - and obviously Evil - choices.

I watch his content when I'm bored and in the mood for some ragebait, otherwise he reminds me of DSP lol. He also hates his fans and admits he's doing it just for views, so he's transparent in the fact that he's nobody's friend and will happily take the money and run. It's why he's streaming most of the time, because he gets that superchat money that way.

Dunno if someone already commented on this, but someone is making a (quasi?) sourceport of Arcanum:

Arcanum CE

In other news, an autist is working on a MechWarrior 4 / Black Knight overhaul (sadly no MW4: Mercs yet, apparently it's too different to easily port stuff over), and has completed the Black Knight portion of the project:

The Arcanum modders (who are all intolerable, by the way) have been all over this the past couple of weeks. This has opened up a lot of possibilities that were pretty difficult before since they required engine-level edits.

Old video games are worth it from a historical perspective, for the love of the craft of game development. I bought an arcade stick and controllers to line up with specific consoles I emulate so I could experience every type of game from the late 1970s to 2010s.

However, unless you really come at it from that perspective, "video games" as a modern concept really just came around in the 90s when you didn't have to draw abstractions to understand what was happening on screen. Mario jumps on a goomba doesn't mean anything in your rational brain, but Doom Guy blasting a shotgun at a demon from hell is clear as day. You could maybe get kids today into those games where graphics and sound had evolved beyond moving blocks and bleeping tones, i.e. SNES vs. NES. No one will *want* to play NES games, but there's some merit to be had by the SNES generation.
Something has been lost from the lack of abstraction though. Making everything ultra-real didn't magically improve game quality, in fact, it seems to make people dumb. Now everything has to be clearly marked out with compasses, yellow paint, and highlights. Although, the highlight problem is more to due with being unable to distinguish useful items from worthless props because everything looks the same. In general, it seems like gamers don't have the same kind of intuition now that older gamers did. I recall from the RPG book that modern gamers were completely confused by Ultima IV and couldn't grasp what the hell to do, like they didn't even have the reasoning power to guess.
Or to put it more simply: Older gamers were mostly white males and "modern" gamers often aren't.

I found a copy of the entire game that is only around 30gbs or so compressed, but once you install it (comes with all of the expansions), it is near 350gbs of space.

Makes it much nicer to deal with this game in that respect, but yeah... the install space is rather enormous and this is not a game you want to play on a mechanical drive, so you have to have a "install" drive and a "storage" drive.

Started playing metal gear rising reveangeance, I feel the ability to chop your enemies into 100s of pieces is really underrated aspect that should be present in many more games. We should also try this on libtards as well (in minecraft).

I probably should also play metal gear series instead of procrastinating it the billionth time

To me it's not the only good one, but the best one, it's the natural product of not having Kojima as the director, but instead, people interested in making an actual game

Finished the main story of metal gear rising revengeance its pretty dang short, but really fun. I played on the normal difficulty yet but they game was pretty easy overall.

The peak of the game for me was MC becoming jack the reaper, i wasn't expecting him to actually accept that. The fights were pretty cool, though I generally dislike QTE sections.

My scores were pretty mediocre though, guess i could replay the game for better ones sometime later. I also didn't use items until halfway through (so no healing through med kits) and just hoarded all the sub-weapons as well.

There are dlc and vr missions still left, I will check them out next.

MGR was a standalone spin-off right? The main metal gear series are more of stealth genre, which I do like (dishonored 1 is among my favorite games). Why do you dislike the other metal gear games (if they are **** i would rather not try them at all)
