For some reason the IGN one is buggy. Also this looks worse than Deus Ex Revision

begging devs to remaster games that are actually broken and don't have well-maintained fan patches to completely fix everything wrong with it and modernize the UX

I dont like the visual changes to the characters, this is not an enhancement.
Gunther looks wimpier now, and Paul Denton and Anna Navarre both look older.

The three evils that humanity faces:
Censorship
Telemetry
DRM
CGPT gave him a steel breastplate

Those are sensible additions. Why spend even more money to make it look worse?Quality-of-Life Enhancements: Autosaves, faster loading, achievement tracking, and cloud saves across supported platforms.
Controller Support: Refined radial menus, fluid weapon management, and streamlined navigation, all adapted for modern controllers.
Multi-Screen Support: 4K-ready UI, ultrawide and multi-monitor display support.
Creative bankruptcy isnβt a strong enough word to describe the games industry.

I would say Deus Ex Invisible war would fit that description.rusty_shackleford wrote: β September 24th, 2025, 23:13begging devs to remaster games that are actually broken and don't have well-maintained fan patches to completely fix everything wrong with it and modernize the UX
They gave my terrorist leader man titties. Aspyr truly is breaking new ground in the remaster genre.
The ******* depth of field they added makes the textures look flat, so his hand is melded into the launcher

As bad as this looks, it is a good sign that a new Deus Ex game has been greenlit somewhere.

It is a common (misguided) strategy in marketing to "test the waters" and "keep an IP warm" by putting out a small and ****** release while deciding how much money to put into the next project. It's how you end up with awful garbage like Stargate Origins. Marketing people aren't learning animals so they will keep selling this playbook even though it is damaging the IPs they are consulting for.Oyster Sauce wrote: β September 25th, 2025, 02:54Not reallyJ1M wrote: β September 25th, 2025, 02:50As bad as this looks, it is a good sign that a new Deus Ex game has been greenlit somewhere.

I assume the contention many people have is with the fact that a new Deus Ex game is a good thing in the modern video game environment.J1M wrote: β September 25th, 2025, 03:03It is a common (misguided) strategy in marketing to "test the waters" and "keep an IP warm" by putting out a small and ****** release while deciding how much money to put into the next project. The "remaster" might be a good sign that a new Deus Ex game is in the works, but a new Deus Ex game will most assuredly be bad.

Yup. You have to be disturbingly naive or a brainless normgroid to believe that any studio in 2025 is capable of making a good Deus Ex game.logincrash wrote: β September 25th, 2025, 09:45I assume the contention many people have is with the fact that a new Deus Ex game is a good thing in the modern video game environment.J1M wrote: β September 25th, 2025, 03:03It is a common (misguided) strategy in marketing to "test the waters" and "keep an IP warm" by putting out a small and ****** release while deciding how much money to put into the next project. To be fair, I don't think J1M is either of those things.Bing_xiLim wrote: β September 25th, 2025, 10:25Yup. Hmm...has anyone done an in depth analysis of a remake to compare and contrast the game play elements that they removed to "make the game more fun" which actually ended up making the game worse?
One thing that bothered me over the years is constantly hearing developers say "you want the game to be fun" as they were pointing out why some aspects of play had to be removed, but for me... removing those "not fun" elements actually harmed the game. That is, I don't think "fun" is as useful a metric as so many developers claim it is.
Don't get me wrong, I get their intent... what they are "trying" to say, but... well... there are so many games that have elements of play that are not "fun" in and of themselves, but a component that makes the game over all "fun". Frustration isn't a bad thing, it is a process of learning to succeed and trying to remove that from a game I think defeats the entire point of a game.

Well if at least the dialogue stays intact it might find some new fans which didnt bother yet to get the original working on a modern OS. But I guess it will get the deadspace treatment when it comes to remasters just that the graphics barely improved.

The Dead Space remaster is very impressive technically. The art design is a different question, because they pozzed it way the **** up. I heard the writing was also worse, but I can't say that with 100% certainty.Vaako wrote: β September 25th, 2025, 11:06Well if at least the dialogue stays intact it might find some new fans which didnt bother yet to get the original working on a modern OS. It's interesting how many people were triggered by that turn of phrase, but I get why. I can't think of a studio I'd trust with a new Deus Ex game either.logincrash wrote: β September 25th, 2025, 10:50To be fair, I don't think J1M is either of those things.Bing_xiLim wrote: β September 25th, 2025, 10:25Yup.
